It's everybody's favourite time of the week, Desert Island Disco time! Remember, you can send in your favourite party tracks, anytime, to lauren.6music@bbc.co.uk. And that's exactly what Simon Witheyfrom Norwich did. He put Cher in his mix, and he's still coming on tell us all about the tunes that will keep his sun-drenched dance floor eternal. Take it away Simon:
"Desert Island Disco is an absolutely brilliant feature but it has meant that I have spent an unhealthy amount of time compiling my list. I had post it notes all over the place (some beside my bed!!). It has been almost impossible to get it down to 15 from the initial 137.
My disco experiences are mainly birthdays, weddings and engagement parties and that has been reflected in my choices. I have broken the tracks down in to three sections. The first is a selection of cheese to get everyone up on to the floor before gradually taking them in to the realms of 6 Music credibility. I hope that you like my choices or at least some may make you smile."
Cheese Board - These are for the muggles who’ll dance to anything at any time (usually those that have had a few fruit juices throughout the day). This gives the rest of us the courage to start thinking about shifting towards the dance floor:
- Believe - Cher
- Can You Feel The Force – The Real Thing
- Don’t Call Me Baby – Madison Avenue
- Born To Be Alive – Patrick Hernandez
- Don’t Give Me Your Lies – Alex Party
The Transition - This is for the hoverers who are itching to get on to the dance floor but need something a bit more credible to show off their moves:
- Two Can Play That Game – Bobby Brown
- Flawless – The Ones
- It’s Love (Trippin’) – Goldtrix
- You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) – Sylvester
- Heatwave – Martha Reeves and the Vandellas
The Credibility Crescendo - This is when everybody is reaching fever pitch and you pull out the big guns and whip them up in to a 6 Music-type frenzy and have them pleading for more:
- Cowgirl – Underworld
- Is Anybody Out There – Bassheads
- Feel Like Movin’ The Juan Maclean
- In My House – Abel The Kid
- Jealous – Chromeo
