gigs, Slow Club session

Hello hello...

been to some good gigs recently - saw Richard james the folkster and Italian band Jennifer Gentle last week. Their name suggets a lady called Jennifer, who'se kind of gentle. Their staccatto indie is, therefore, a surprise.

Went to my friends night which was a Ceili (yknow, traditional Irish dancing) geniously titled Ceili Minogue! and ace Welsh band Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog. Last weekend I saw promising young North Walian band The Stilletoes and Berlin based Dublin all female three piece Party Weirdo - every bit as interesting as the name sugggests.

On bank holiday Monday I got to see Elvis Perkins again. When his album Ash Wednesday is released in July the world should fall in love. He recorded a session for Radio 1 Wales this Thursdya night too. Willy Mason was on fine form too. A much finer form than I was on Tuesday morning...

Tonight on the show - the brilliant Slow Club in session - Sheffield's finest sea shantying duo by a far stretch. And there's great new tunes by Breaking the Illusion, Johnny Foreigner, Pete and the Pirates, Ghoukeu, Actionier and loads more too..

catch you later

I hate to sound like one of Gideons duffers, but isn't Jennifer Gentle the name of one of Syd's cats in that Pink Floyd song, Lucifer Sam?

    She was a witch apparently.
