A virtual voice-over tool for multilingual journalists
BBC News Labs and BBC Digital Development have produced an innovative tool called ALTO which assists multilingual journalists in reversioning news video content. ALTO combines a number of language technologies to allow a single language journalist to generate multilingual voice-overs.
New Homepages for all BBC Radio Stations
Users visit the radio homepages for a variety of reasons, from listening to live programmes to enjoying BBC selected output clips. All of the radio station homepages are receiving a two part redesign to provide a more effective experience for all user needs.
Introducing BBC iPlayer Kids
We decided to create a single app that enables kids to tell the app their age and instantly be presented with content curated specially for their age group. So 6 year olds are able to enjoy a mix of CBeebies and CBBC programmes without having to switch between two different apps.
BBC UX&D’s new 'GEL' design website goes live
The first BBC web page was published in 1997. Within ten years we had over four hundred websites, all designed differently. Such entropy was unsustainable and confused our users. Hence the introduction of GEL, a shared design framework which standardised our core interaction patterns.
