Apple has today launched their new Apple News service in the UK, and we’re pleased that BBC News is part of the new experience as it launches. Apple have been working with the BBC and other publishers to help us understand how to take advantage of the features of the new service, such as being able to brand our content to fit with the BBC’s visual design guidelines and fonts.
This is a six month trial to understand how users will consume news inside an aggregation service alongside content from other publishers, and how that will impact their consumption of news from the BBC.

This is part of making our output available in more places. The launch of Apple News, Facebook Instant Articles and Google’s Accelerated Mobile Publishing (AMP) formats present new opportunities and challenges for digital publishers. As discussed in the blog post about Google AMP we will be working with other publishers in open collaboration to establish increasingly common content syndication standards that allow users to discover content in the places that are most convenient to them.
We will be inviting user feedback on how useful you find having BBC News content available on Apple News and other third party services.
