Its worse when you text somebody a question and you dont get any response, then YOU end up ringing THEM a few hours later and they say oh yeah I totally forgot to text back didnt I?! Grrrrr

I HATE when you ask two questions in a text and the person only replies to one of them.

I also have a policy of never answering withheld numbers. I assume they are one of the following, none of whom I want to talk to:



- Scammers

- Criminals

- People with an inflated sense of self-worth

- Paranoids



It says 'I want to use you, but you can't use me' or that they want to take my money/life in some way. These are situations to avoid.



My personal phone-hate is when people are at a club/gig/party and they text/tweet the world saying what a wild time they're having at that particular moment. When I'm having a wild time I'm semi-clothed, mid-air and have probably just smashed my phone in a pique of "take that conformity" excitement. If you have time to get your phone out and tap a little message down then you are not having as good a time as you would like the world to think you're having.

I hate it when someone rings you and you don't want to answer so, you leave it to go to answerphone. Instead of getting the message that you don't want to talk to them right now, they don't leave you a voicemail, they just keep ringing and ringing and ringing back until you have to turn your phone off just to get rid of them!

People who send you a second text before you've answered the first one! Grrr!

I hate it when people insist on having a text conversation that lasts all afternoon, say planning a night out, when a 30 second phone call would do it.....answer your phone, it's good to talk :)

1. On the train, when people talk so loudly into their phones that the entire carriage knows half the conversation...we don't want to know!

2. When hanging out with friends, and one person decides to have a proper gossip with someone on the phone...er, antisocial much?

3. At the dinner table, when someone uses their phone to talk/text/tweet...what happened to table manners?

My parents only switch their mobile phones on when they want to make a call ("because otherwise the battery will run down") which means that if you miss them calling they leave a voicemail and promptly switch their phone off again - SO YOU CAN'T CALL THEM BACK. Argh. So annoying.



If "Withheld Number" comes up on my phone though I know it's my Mum calling from her landline (which is ex-directory and therefore withheld automatically) :)

@PseudoRandom, on point number 1, we so do wanna know, every time thats happened to me I have to stop myself from chuckling coz the conversation is ridiculous/hilarious! Its the same as being on the bus and someone in front of you is sending a text and you try so hard to peer over their shoulder lol, great fun!

i hate it wen u try and fone someone and they dont answer and then they text back to say ring now. then u ring and they dont answer. grrrrrrr

Absolutely HATE it when you get a missed call from someone because you couldn't get your phone out of your bag/pocket in time or whatever the reason may be, and you ring back literally 10 seconds later and they don't pick up....

One word replies get on my nerves, your in the middle of a text convo and you just get the reply 'k' or 'yeah' grrrr that annoys me!

I hate it when people answer their phone where they're on the toilet, worse still when people ring you when they're on the toilet, sickening.

When someone send you a text and you don't know who it is and you have to send back a really blunt text say sorry who are you?



There is no way to be subtle about it.



And it always ends up being someone who gets offended you don't have their number.

When you are having a face to face conversation with someone and they get a text...then mid conversation they trail off and leave you stood waiting for the answer...the longer they make you wait the more you want to know what they were going to say..this becomes even more annoying as time goes on. Soooo rude!! HAHA

I hate it when people ring you and you don't answer because you clearly don't want to talk to them, then they ring you on withheld thinking that you don't know it's them! Annoying!

But, as with @Oleg1977, I have spent all afternoon trying to sort out going for a pint, when a 30 second conversation would have been more pleasant and less annoying. For arranging things, having actual feedback is damned useful.

We asked my nan once why she didnt have her mobile phone on when we were trying to pick her up from the station...she replied with "well i wouldnt want it going off in public would I". old people amaze me!

Does that mean the person is being polite and they dont want a text conversation or are they just in a hurry. Drives me crazy.



Also the debate about the number of Xs at the end of a text. Somepeople change the number for every text they send. I always thought

1 x = Friendly and or related

2 x = close friend and someone you like

3 x = Get in!

I hate withheld numbers but recently ive taken to answering them. Turns out some of them are actually rather genuine. See im joining the RAF atm so need security clearance for certain things. so anyway I filled in this massive form to tell them all about me, then at about half 7 at night the other day I got a phone call withheld, so I thought ah what the hell this one won't hurt. Turns out the security services call on withheld numbers. So always remember that withheld number could be MI6 needing you to be a secret agent or summin!!!

Have you ever called someone that has somehow changed their 'ringer' to a song. I hate that. When it happens i immediately put the phone down because i automatically assume they are an idiot.

When you text someone a long text and they give you a one word answer and when someone complains because you had the audicity to turn yor phone off at night so you didn't have to get their drunk calls at half four in the morning!

I hate it when I miss someones call...call them back immediately and they dont answer....where did they go???? you just called me.....!!!

I find it pretty annoyoing when people constantly have their phone out say on a table or in a lecture on the desk. They continually check to see if they have a text and it really bugs me.



Also my friends often pretend to receive a call to get rid of unwanted people- this is actually quite brilliant. The backberry is a perfect phone for doing this, you can press play in the music bit and it appears to be ringing. WOW.

Old People Baffle Me!

I hate it when you text someone a question and they text back about 6 hours later... but about something completely unrelated! Massive pet peeve. Answer my question!

When somebody says they'll text you and then..don't. 'Oh sorry, i forgot'.. well that's not what i've heard.



Oh, and another, when someone sends you a text and don't give you time to reply. Even if you're in the middle of sending a text back, they send you another one like 'You ignoring me?', or ring you? It's like, what are you doing?

My co-worked always finds herself answering the phone wrong. She's a bit older and always manages to confuse the person on the phone. My biggest pet peeve ever. No matter how much training she receives.

when someone rings you and says 'ring me back' without even saying hello to save themselves credit. I've got an interesting story about a cd (boring object) when they first were invented, all the adverts said they were unbreakable. my little brother proved them wrong by scratching it across the kitchen floor... go Cameron! I also just though, my mum doesn't half talk REALLY LOUDLY on her moblie phone, as if the person at the other end cannot hear her. 1) it's awfully embarrassing and 2) i don't know why she has a moblie, shouting seems to be her method of communicating.

i hate it when people think cause there on a mobile they have to shout, oh and playing music without headphones!

It annoys me when someone is on the phone and they are telling you what the person on the other end is saying even though you can hear them clearly



And when you are trying to talk to someone and they are always on their phone, how rude!

If you call me and I dont answer, its because I dont want to speak to you or my phone isnt with me. Leave a damn message, dont just keep calling back.



Also, if we are in the middle of a text conversation and I am slow to reply to a message dont chase it up! The whole point of text is that you can do something else at the same time!

MISS CALLING!!! HOW annoying....get some credit, better still go on contract! The other is when some one calls and you miss their call by a SECOND!! You call them straight back and then they don't answer!! SUPER annoying......my husband does this regularly, What did I miss my chance, so you won't answer!!!

I hate when someone texts you at 3 o'clock in the morning when you've already told them earlier on that you're not out because you're working early the next day. Also when someone continues to text/call you after you have said you cant talk just now.

Nothing worse when someone gets a text while walking in the street and they come to a complete halt in the middle of the pavement.....so if you don't realise you end up bumping into them!!



Also when people have a phone conversation on loudspeaker.....WHY?!?! I honestly don't care that you aren't going out tonight because your doing your washing!!

How about:

full living room with ppl watching TV, someones phone rings, the person turns TV down and starts talking!?

you having an interesting conversation, phone rings and person you were talking to just automaticly answers the call!?

I hate the fact that my 16 year old son can not move from one part of the house to another without texting his friends or letting facebook know his every move this includes cleaning teeth or using the loo....yuk.... but when you ask him what he's been upto; "not much" is the reply... if it's "not much" then how come you have to text your friends 5000 times a month to tell them.. grrr... grumpy old man :)

When you send someone a BASIC message, leave your phone elsewhere when you do something, come back and you have thousands of messages saying " why do you hate me?" " ? " " ok dont text back! "

Worst thing for me is when someone replies with just "K" ... That either means they are annoyingly lazy or that you've done something very, very wrong.

People sitting playing their ringtones in public when deciding which one they want, especially on a bus, is sooooo annoying!

It annoys me so much! Fair enough it gets the message across quickly and efficiently, but I always wonder if the person is being rude. If you're not, why not take that extra 10 seconds to write a little something else or at least construct a sentence!

When ringing your house phone, I hate it when people ring it once, hang up then redial so you know it's them!! So annoying!



I also hate when people with hold numbers - I will NOT answer you fool! :P

I have a weekend job working in Tesco, and I really hate it when customers come to the till while talking on their phone!



They don't say hello, or please, and just walk off without saying thank you! Wouldn't hurt to stop for 5 minutes to stop yapping about who did what last night and telling your mate 'Yeah babes im in tescos, be home in 20 minuites' because its rude, and everybody behind the tills and in the queue don't care.

I hate someone want to talk to me but she doesn't want to pay for the charge, so she always ring for one or two, then she hang up and leave a miss call message!!!!!! that just rude!!!!! and if I didn't answer her call, she'll do it again, again and again....

My mum actually do the same thing as your mum did ,when I sent message to her, she never reply mine until i ring her ,then she told me "oh sorry ,darling, i was playing happy farmer." oh my goodness...

People who ring for something in Particular then when theyve finished talking about that subject they ask What you doing? GRRRRR what i am doing is talkin to you on the Phone. Dont ask stupid questions lol.....

When I text my Dad about something and I wait 20 minutes for a response which just says 'OK'.

Makes me laugh that half of these comments are from people annoyed that others are pestering them by call or text), and the other half are annoyed when others don't answer their texts or calls, or give them short one-word answers.



Seems obvious that half of you need to take the hint the other half are giving here... if someone doesn't answer then they're generally not interested in talking to you right now, or can't be bothered to answer your 10th text in a row!



Re Greg's Mum forgetting to text him when she got home (and him presumably forgetting to check on her when she hadn't), he needs to sign her up for textyouhome, I've done it for my Mum and Gran and sleep much easier!

i hate when someone sends you the same text 2 and 3 times until you reply... go away!! haha
