Most people trying to get a job in news graphics have an impressive understanding of equipment and software, says Rob Shergold.
But, as Senior Designer, BBC News, what he needs most from his team is good design skills and judgment.
Over the years, graphics style has been the result of an interaction between technology and fashion, he says.
