This story, reported in the United States' Columbia Journalism Review, is salutary.
It's about a fact-checking fest at the school of journalism at Tilburg in the Netherlands. For about a year, fourth year students at the school have been rigorously hunting down the 'facts' behind stories reported in a range of Dutch media.
Around 80% of the stories the students have checked had at least one error in them.
If your Dutch is better than mine, you can read their findings on their blog.
