An important set of new guidelines that you really should be familiar with before you leave the building to report a court case:
Reporting Restrictions in the Criminal Courts published by the Judicial Studies Board is the result of 18 months of work with the board, the judiciary, the Society of Editors, the Newspaper Society, Times Newspapers, Trinity Mirror, the Press Association and Reuters.
As with previous guidance, the aim is to give a clear description of what 'open justice' means in current circumstances - and those circumstances have clearly changed since the last guidance was published at the beginning of the decade.
