Last week I was asked to present a few thoughts on some new tools I have been experimenting with, for a #bbcwssocialmedia awayday - a day which brought together interactive editors and senior managers from the BBC World Service.

I had intended to present findings on some of the new web curation tools on the market, but then F8 happened, Facebook's annual developers conference.

Watching the live stream I hadn't expected the changes to be quite so 'awesome'. Whether users like them or not, the changes are big and I believe quite significant for news organisations as well. I've curated some key articles.

One point that caught my attention in particular was Mark Zuckerberg's announcement to shift the company's focus from accumulating users to improving the quality of engagement. As this is (along with driving traffic) one of the key purposes of being on Facebook, we, news organisations, must sit up and take note.

Now, if I say much more there will be little incentive for you to watch this presentation, so I won't. Incidentally, I also share how Google Hangouts are being used to enhance online storytelling.
