Finding the audience on Facebook

When the BBC is seeking material from its audience to use in its output - whether pictures, videos or news - it can no longer just rely people "coming to us", says Trushar Barot, senior broadcast journalist in the UGC (User Generated Content) Hub in the BBC's London newsroom.

"We're increasingly aware of how we can find this content in the spaces on the web where people share their content," says Trushar. And that means that he and his colleagues are active on sites like Flickr, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.

Trushar talks about his work, his career and the future of journalists' dealings with their audience in this latest film in our Inside BBC Journalism series.
