Language is a growing organism. And it is vital that journalists are aware of changes and developments. The BBC values - impartiality, accuracy and fairness - can only be guaranteed through the use of the correct language - whether that language is English or any other. Many languages in the BBC World Service are broadcasting to several countries and there are often debates about how to pronounce a word. Which spelling is correct? Which accent is acceptable? The links below go to BBC College of Journalism pages on the different language service sites on the World Service website. Their aim is to capture and develop the in-house language style that exists in every World Service language service, to create a reference point for the broadcast language and to register and share the team experience.
