Fundraising Heroes - North East
Lately we’ve been all over the UK over searching for fundraising heroes, and we’re reaching our final few stops. This week were visiting the North East, and with our 2013 campaign well under way things are getting busier and busier! As usual we’ve seen some very exciting fundraising from the very heroic Great British public, and we’ve chosen a few stories to share with you.
Thriftwood Summer Scheme 2013
The Thriftwood Summer Scheme was set up by Brighter Opportunities through Supported Play (BOSP), based in Brentwood, Essex. The aim of the Scheme was to help young people with learning disabilities experience an adventurous activity holiday that would increase their independence, and help develope life skills and self-esteem.
Fundraising Heroes - Wales
Over the past few weeks we’ve been all over the UK celebrating our fundraising heroes, and this week we’re crossing the border to say a big ‘bore da’ to our supporters in Wales. Our Welsh fundraisers are often some of our most impressive and we’re eager to see if the same is true for this year’s batch of heroes.
Meningitis Awareness Week 2013
This week marks Meningitis Awareness Week. Thanks to your support, we’re able to help people affected by meningitis like James and his family.
Who you help: Connor and Cerebra
Five-year-old Connor is severely autistic. His family was told that he would never speak. With the help of a BBC Children in Need grant, Connor was able to get help from the Sensory Toy Library at Cerebra in Carmarthen, Wales.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Gala Evening in aid of BBC Children in Need
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to host a Gala Evening in aid of BBC Children in Need and hosted by Sir Terry Wogan. The Gala takes place on 7 November and tickets go on sale on 13 September.

Fundraising Heroes – London and the South East
As we leap head-first into fundraising season, it’s becoming hard to hide our excitement as all signs show that this could be our biggest and best year yet. We haven’t had to search far for Fundraising Heroes this week as we’ve been stepping just outside Pudsey HQ to explore London and the South East of England, with very exciting results.
