i posted a link on the last blog about spoilers for the next ep. im a bit miffed that the writers have given tom and hal 'girlfriends' or romantic interests whatever they will be but it just seems a bit obvious to me 'oh lets put some girlfriends in' i know it happens in life but come on i was hoping for something a bit different. it is possible to write something without that, look at sherlock for eg.

just had a rethink about my last post and feel ashamed at my little rant! its called being human after all and characters trying to be human and get on with their lives as normally as possible. i change my mind as often as i change my lipstick!

A strange green box



The household , one morning, finds on their doorsteps a bizarre emerald green box. Each member when they touch it is freezied living each one their own version of groundhog day.

Annie is stuck making endless cups of tea and ironing while Tom is obliged to whittle and whittle and whittle as for Hal, the vampire is cursed at doing the world largest domino spiral while at the very same time, Eve is endlessly puking, vampires visit Tom begging to be staked by Duncan and a sea breeze threatens the domino stand

OMG! i love her already!

I wonder if she will really be Tom's flower so he can be a bee... I hope she'll be nice to him. Anyone know if she is training to be a barrister? Likes labradors?

how old do you reckon she is, she looks quite young but i think she could be late teens, perhaps at university going by the look of her room. She seems a bit of a 'science geek' and she has posters of the solar system on her walls, perhaps she has been researching the moon, she certainly knows a lot of technical terms relating to werewolves. Thinking, also how she might have gotten scratched... any ideas?

Seriously, I don't mean to criticise this wonderful blog or anyone involved in bringing it to us lucky fans (really, it's brilliant I wish I had enough time to be here all the time!) But what actually is the purpose of that green box!? I get the minimum time between commenting, which is a good idea and helps stop people like me with rubbish connections from getting shut out of conversations, but why the green one? Sorry if this has been answered before, I've been away a time and still getting used to the new look blog!



And just to keep on topic, @Shoe (17) I think I read somewhere in a synopsis of the episode that she's a 'teen' so she's probably just a couple of years younger than Tom. I love her puns too!

Yeah, I understand why Hal had to get a job, no argument there.

But I think living together is all about compromise and being considerate, and that goes both ways. Hal is expected to adapt to the household, fine, he should and by now he has. He's working and he's accepted his share to look after the baby, in return Annie has to accept that his routines are part of his lifystyle.

For example, mocking him for doing pressups and basically ignoring his reason for doing so is not being considerate.



And I would love it if Annie's issues got addressed sometime. As you said, her being murdered may be the reason she's always burying her head in the sand, but that's exactly where I think the difference lies between Hal and Annie's problems.

Annie's problems are psychological, she can learn from experience and change, try to overcome her fears etc. But Hal's problem cannot be fixed, it can only be suppressed. The bloodlust will never go away, no matter how hard he tries.



That's why I think there's no way these problems can be compared and anyway, why should they even have to? Just because you have your own problems (and mind you, I don't think Annie's aware she even has one), does that mean you shouldn't acknowledge or care that others have them, too?



However, I love Annie, contrary to how it might come across, and maybe that's why I hate it when she puts her denial-cap on. Because it doesn't end well for her when she does.

whilst the bloggers fight the curse of the green box woth appropriate exorcisms yet avoiding one suggested by a Mrs Cenza Kemp from Bristol 'stake it!', I think Cutler is spot on. Seriously. Quite a few European nations have been cursed with strange wolf like creatures over the centuries and the video will simply open Pandora box which must be green I am quite confident about it. Britain may have had some backstories with werewolves, but never ever with such details and documentation as us, continentals. On the plus side for the show, Cutler may join forces with unsuspecting real werewolf hunters like the one who taxidermied(orthograph?) the 'wolf' head at the pawn shop and these people mean business.

@4: I don't think Hal will have his girlfriend for long. I doubt he will be able to keep himself from biting her (as if that would be so bad, *ahem*), I mean draining her dry. So my guess is, he either kills her or breaks it off. But I think it's cute that he wants to try again. He deserves some loving, he hasn't had a date in 55 years, it's a shame really. ;)

@35 That's what I meant to say, only you said it better! About wanting/not wanting Hal to be unleashed I mean! Having said that I rewatched Hal's prequel yesterday and he's really different in it, I reckon unleashed Hal would actually be a pretty happy guy, as long as he didn't stop long enough to think about it. And as long as Annie, Tom and Eve manage to stay out of the way I can't say I'd mind him killing everyone he encuontered until he was sated! ;)



I think we can all agree on there'd be no more kitchen singing/dancing in marigolds though lol. And unleashed Hal would sadly no longer have need of the press ups routine, though I'm sure he'll find some other way to stay buff!

@36: Oh yeah, I want some flashbacks of him from the 16th/17th century, preferably topless, but I'm convinced he would pull off the fashion around then really well, too! ;)

On a separate note, my male character in my writers group homework is heavily influenced by Hal! Hazel eyes, old fashioned manners, seems older than he looks. Oh ... I've even called him Harry. Expecting top marks for homework this week ;)

@36/40 *signs that petition* More Hal flashbacks please, and yes I think he would suit the fashion from that era too! I'm not a fan of his buttoned up collars, though it works because it suits the way he is now. And he definitely shouldn't go any further down the cool modern vampire avenue with all the black clothes, that became too much Mitchell's thing. I think he'd rock the old fashioned white shirt with open collar, messy hair look!

@39: Oh yeah, he was great in the prequel! So casual and laid back somehow, so different from how high-strung he is now. The way he was sipping on his beer... I'm crazy. ;)



Yeah, I would guess he would be happy as long as he stays in that *wanting-to-be-evil* zone. ;) But I'm not sure he would get there immediately if he lost control now once or twice, so I'd say sad Hal would be a safe bet. :(

Allison seems great! I'm interested in seeing how her character's going to develop in next weeks episode.

My one tiny grumble is the fact that she has to wear glasses as she is 'geeky'. Though if she continues to be this good and funny then I won't mind.



Oh and yes, add me to that petition for more Hal flashbacks (with added singing preferably)!

@45: I love his rare smiles. Because he doesn't smile often, it makes it so much more beautiful when he does. OMG, I think we are in gushing mood, all guys on here should just cover their eyes, so they can avoid reading this.



Yeah, he's not really happy, but I think he's just come to accept how it is and what his life has to be like. It's not as if he's brooding in a corner somewhere. He seems to be in some kind of neutral zone where he's sad when reminded of his victims etc, but also able to enjoy himself when the occasion arises. :)



I always want to give him a hug, especially when he has that lost puppy look in his eyes. :(

We know from the breakfast scene with Yvonne, Hal can be quite the ladykiller when his heart is set on it. Think about it.1000 tulips in Spain, not really known to be tulip land even in 1784, must have cost a fortune and proved quite a dedication- yet once the lady has given in- he kills, he locks her for months in a tower and he literally eats her heart. Yet when Kirby mentions these names, he has a tear like he was still loving them and missing them. And here I wonder if his cycles of manic bloodlust are not related to these deaths. He feels down, stops drinking, behaves, meets someone, says to himself 'this time, I'll behave' then self destroy the relationship then loathe himself, kill everybody because he hates to see happy people around then spirals down till he meets the proverbial swimming pool tile and goes upward where the same senseless cycle happens again. Killing Alex would lead to Lord Harry's come back

About Hal getting unleashed, it is hard to decide what I want ... But I think flashbacks to evil topless Hal (agree completely with Laminamara about the 'tash though)while present day Hal stays clean and happy in the family and is able to relax a bit on his routine would be best. Because I'm hoping Annie and Tom wouldn't let him slip back to that, especially now Annie and Hal have this new respect and understanding f each other. I know a lot of people were quite upset about Annie just plain saying to Hal "I want to kill again" but look at it this way - she's finally being honest instead of burying her feelings in true Annie style! And after Mitchell I think/hope she would be better this time and confront Hal, not let him go evil. Oh and she's gotten much more fierce "new mum, what can I say"

i know what people said the last time i mentioned this but hearing Hal sing made me think...'New York, New York!'? ok feel free to kill me now, but im convinced it was him!

I just want her backstory! How long has she been a ww? Where does she transform? Has she ever been attacked by a Vampire? Is her video response not a call to fame in its own right? I can't imagine that there'd be many responses to that video!!! Lunacy... Love it!

I think it's Hal on the radio in the future but that doesn't necessarily mean that it will happen, that he will be the big bad vampire in the future. The future we were shown at the beginning was the future as it would happen if no-one stopped the vampires now. But if someone, our trio, stopped the vampires now then that future might not happen but might be different. The future can be changed by actions now, so if The Woman interfered and got Hal to go to HH, then that already alters the course of history. Oh dear, that makes no sense at all. I always get lost with time paradoxes...

I've had to bite my tongue when it comes to Hal in my house as I'm staying with my parents at the moment and I used to make my Mum watch BH back in s1, she agreed with me about Mitchell because she said he had 'a nice face' but she doesn't like Hal! Even she gave in to him at that moment though hehe

Fergus was possibly Hal-Don Giovanni's Leporello but would be Cutler who likes to manipulate be a differential diagnosis? Hal who has a past where being base-born as being born to a wh**e-house was tantamount to social suicide. Hal who liked to be in power, red shield, serfs, prestige would deep inside him be wary of the real regard , the real standing he would present in society. A loving partner born into the aristocracy would satisfy him, yet deep inside a voice would start suspecting her of disregarding him, being unfaithful etc. Jealousy would soon be revealed, because he acted like a Blue Beard and soon the lady is dried out. Then he realized she was virtuous, and honourable ladies are his taste- see his discussion with Tom, his partners do not appear in Nuts

@oarelle I dunno.. I've been a Gatiss fan for a long time since The League of Gentlemen back in the day, I've even met him once and I'm sure that's not his voice! It makes too much sense that it could be his character though, it just doesn't sound like him to me and he has a v distinctive voice! Bet it is going to turn out to be him now I've said that and I'll have to eat my words haha

@49 Or it could be the other way around. Maybe he was still drinking blood when he wooed those women, wooing is some form of hunting after all, and when he finally had them, he killed them. Maybe afterwards he was so disgusted by his cruelty, that he tried to change. So I'm not sure killing Alex would mean that he falls back into old patterns.



I don't think that tear when Kirby mentioned the women necessarily has to mean that he had deep feelings for them. Maybe he's just ashamed to be reminded of the person he once was and grieves for his victims.



Remember Hal in the prequel, he was drinking blood, but he was far from the monster who kills everything in sight that we saw in the flashback. There seem to be a lot of different sides to Lord Harry. I could see the Hal from the prequel pursuing women, being charming, then killing them.



@50: It was great that Annie and Hal were so honest with each other. That was actually my favourite scene from the last episode (together with Hal singing). And I, too, have the feeling that this means that Annie will act differently this time around when Hal falls off the wagon. At least I hope it does.

Is anyone else here terrified that we'll lose Damien aswell? BH managed to keep onto Aidan for long enough but I think Damien is really getting a lot of publicity now...they can't steal him too! :c

WHY WEREWOLVES DO NOT LIKE FRENCH PEOPLE?



Because we kill werewolves, because we still kill wolves, wolves are resented in the Alps when they were re-introduced; we hunt, we still hunt , there are at least 12 officila registered wolfhunters as I type we call them louvetiers. Kings had their 'Royal Great Wolfhunters' and the French Presidency has to my humble knowledge still its say on it... not really wolf friendly country are we!

Right off to watch Sally fret about becoming a Reaper and Aiden`s "son" getting flayed as a punishment for chearting on a vampire princess,causing her to be put into the ground for 80 years.

You can`t make this stuff up you know!

She stared in a show called 'material girl' a while back which was really good but i haven't really seen her in anything else, apart form Dr Who and that was ages ago

I saw her in Doctor Who. On the reruns of it I just think "Why not rentaghost out of there?" >.

They better not steal Damien just yet, it's too soon I'm loving the new series even more than I thought I would (and I was never one who thought they wouldn't because the others left, I have more faith in LT than that!) but I'm not sure I could do it all again so soon!



@Hominid96 she has been in other things, I recognised her from before BH in other things, in fact Aidan was the only one I didn't already recognise back then so just shows you never know!



I don't think the US version is so bad, obviously not nearly as good as the REAL version though! I just watch it to appease my addiction in the long gaps between seasons... At times it's cool and has interesting new ideas/a completely new take on the concept especially now it's in season 2, but I wish they hadn't started off so similar it's still spoiling it for me!

64. Yes, lots of different sides to Lord Harry. In his prequel Hal says 'I have been so many different people'



Though personally if someone fed me a line about 1000 tulips I'd just burst out laughing. Hal's 19th century chat up style was pretty cheesy, but perfect for the person that he presumably was back then. And my, he is a bookworm. Didn't recognise the Keats from my old Eng lit studies, so looked it up on Wikipedia - apparently it's not a poem but from one of Keats's letters. Was Hal subconsciously showing off to teacher?

I think she was in one episode of a show called 'Detah in Paradise' earlier this year as well.

@74. Same! I'm terrible at confusing different shows/characters. When Fergus first apperared I just didn't know what to think - he's been a bad guy in literally everything! Very confusing... :/

@Nic well I'm not familiar with Mark Gatiss at all, just researched him when I knew he'd be in BH, I just think hope and wish it not to be Hal! I want him as Eve's motown singing, shirtless press-up-ing foster dad :D Although I know for certain he's going to fall off that wagon soon and lose his 55years clean chip!



61 - I agree Alison in this clip does really remind me of Annie, can't wait to see them interacting in next week's ep! Annie likes a bit of detective work too as we know, and I can just picture her fussing over Alison "Sooooo. What are your intentions with our Tom? Oh and I've that same highlighter in pink!"

But im 3 minutes in and this story line is seriously getting ridiculous now

I watched ep1 of it and could not, for the life of me get into it. It had crescendos over everything in the American manner so I could barely even hear them *I only have one working ear. :c* I don't know, I guess I am very...Hal-ish in not liking changes. :/

@80 oh god I'm not surprised, I stayed well clear of that one once I heard what it was about, LoM was just too good! Only watched the other BH because I was familiar with some of the writers' previous work, which I liked, and they promised it'd be very different from our show. Which it is, now. No idea how i managed to stick with it long enough to find that out though as it started as a pale imitation!



I'm not sure how I feel about where it's going with season 2 although I do like the spoilt vampire princess character, but maybe that's just because I liked the actress so much in Dollhouse haha.. Aidan mostly annoys me and Sally's pretty dull/repetitive, if anything it's a refreshing change to like the werewolf character the best out of the three! None of them are nearly as well written and likeable characters as even the small parts in the UK show though, just my opinion!

@64/84 I don't think it was just crying over what he'd done in the past which would be more of a Mitchell thing to do I think - He's accepted what he was, he doesn't like it but he's spent years thinking about that every day and he can't change the past. I think he's crying over what he knows inevitably *will* happen if Annie does kick him out, he doesn't want to turn back into that and he knows Kirby is the one holding all the cards in that moment, Hal has no choice but to do what he's told..

Slight change of topic, but since I still can't get into the last blog (assuming its the same for all?) did anyone ever hit on what the scroll meant?

96. I don't know what the concensus was, but my theory was that it was about Mitchell getting Annie from purgatory, with the symbols being:

Vampire (known)

Purgatory - that double triangle thing, with half of it looking like the Death symbol - I just figured it might mean purgatory as being sort-of-but-not-quite the same as death

Protects/Saves - the cup type symbol could mean something like this - it appears on other scrolls with other things in it

Ghost - the double-stick type symbol in the cup. I think others have said this is friendship but if it doesn't mean ghost then the very first piece of scroll talks about a supernatural trinity in the house of a vampire, a werewolf (moon man) and, er, friendship which doesn't make sense to me!

I still think that Tom will love her, but she may not necessarily be into him... Either that or she gets pregnant and we actually have the real War Child!
