Wow! I think that was my favourite Being Human episode ever! It's certainly going to be my most watched.....that is all due to Mitchell of course...how hot....??....I will say no more!

Aww I loved that episode. I don't know what it was about it, it was just so good. Not that I don't love the whole show (because obviously I do. :P) but I felt that was a bit lighter than it has been lately, well except for a couple of scenes. But all the baby stuff gave it a much lighter feel. I dunno, that just the way I felt really.

Young Josie...liked the periodic flashback scenes and Loved how they meshed into the ongoing present storyline of Mitchell needing the love of a woman to be strong against the blood. Thought that Charlene's Irish accent was apparant in places which was not good as older Josie so verrrrry English.



Can't even begin to think how the acting of those 60s scenes must have been when you're with your ex-partner..yes..they're professionals and all that but...kinda hard to get control of your heart no matter how 'prfessional' you need to be

That aside, what a blooming brilliant episode!!! And those babies are so adorable. I love how the characters interact, especially George and Annie and George and Mitchell. Russell is so good as George though.

And I hope that Jaggart isn't Josie's daughter. That would be gross.

You know that was a very silly move of Mitchell killing that policeman and just leaving him there willy-nilly. The other vampires might just be a little peeved about that one...

Ooof lots of Mitchell skin all covered in blood. Mmm Mmm Mmm. Although I didn't realise it was a flash back at first (hair should have given it away, but I was a bit distracted) I said "Oh Mitchell what have you done" (because I talk outloud during Being Human, my housemates must think I'm going crazy, chatting away in an empty room). I was so relieved when the date came up and I was like "phew" and then at the end he kills and I said it again. Mitchells decline continues. How far will this put him back? Will the cravings start again? And what are Lucys motives? Where do her loyalties really lie? I thought she was firmly on Team Vampire when she let go of the stake the first time then she sat over him preparing to kill him in his sleep. And boy is he a heavy sleeper! I'd like to think I would wake up if there was someone sat on my chest.

Annie's gone from having two "dads" to two "kids" in George and Mitchell!

Loved the eps- Brilliant Mitchell story and loving the fact that its all linked in together with last season and Josie- I thought the actress was a perfect match and I almost believed we had time travelled! I really felt for Mitchell need for a human contact to cling to so he keeps in touch with human morality and needing someone to police his behaviour. Maybe he just replaces blood lust with just plain lust!

I wonder if that event inspired Herrick to become a police officer? And how quick did Mitchell tidy up that flat- I did mine yesterday (and it wasn't that far off a state) and it took me all afternoon!

Poor Annie and her "I've left it too late"- I wonder if there are any "orphan" ghost babies she could adopt while they wait to cross over?



On holiday next week- so looking forward to spending a day watching Series 1 and Series 2 so far in a complete Being human splurge and this episode will be a definite highlight!

I thought it was odd how George and Mitchell seem to have running story lines, but Annies' story lines seem to be resolved in one episode. I know she's had the running thing with the door but thats been resolved now, and it seemed to be a victory for her at the end of each episode... does anyone else know what I mean? Like this time, her story line was looking after the baby. Was glad to hear the girl talk about Sykes though. I miss him :(

I was thinking that ewan, about what the other vampires would do when they see what Mitchell did to that policeman. Clearly they won't trust his staying clean thing anymore.



Also where were Daisy and Ivan in this episode?

maybe mitchell didn't kill the police guy maybe he recruited him then the police guy would have a vested interest in keeping the secret?? what do you guys think??

38 - I think Annie does have a running storyline. She's spent all of her time trying to evade the door and now Sykes and the ghost baby have given her reasons why going through it might not be so bad...I think it's the start of a downward spiral for her. A bit like ghost suicide!

[38] I do get what you mean. Annie's storylines seem less complicated than Mitchell and George. However I think episodes for Annie always end in a downer. She's not visible anymore, can't date anyone (unless they start ghost dating...), apparantly she'll watch everyone die, and now realizes she can't have kids.

Is Annie permanently invisible now then? Or will she be visible again at some point... Not sure I really followed what was going on with that, I thought it was tied to her moods but she seems pretty positive and alright now, and yet still invisible?

(47) Yeah I guess Annies theme is sort of a constant depressing theme. I would be wondering whether this would culminate in her going through the door but I think a series 3 has been confirmed and they wouldn't be doing that without her, so surely her story is becoming limited.

Anyway... as for the episode (was running late so had to watch on iplayer) FINALLY mitchell has sorted that guy out!! I love mitchell and don't want him to turn bad and all that but I REALLY get annoyed at the way he is just taking this from this... HUMAN!! He showed his backbone and delt with the vamps and he REALLY needed to do the same with the humans!



LOVED Josie! She was wonderful! The girl that played her was loverly and was really good and she just really looked the part!

the chief inspector would make a good vampire leader - what did he call Mitchell as leader? but Mitchell has lost it - leaving the body and confessing to Lucy - cant really stay as leader now? He should have got Ivan to do his dirty work for him - that would have been nicely morally ambiguous?

recurring theme is - does he have a choice? he tells Josie he doesnt? he's used that a lot this series - eg re Cara, the police guy, the coroner, and organising the vampires - doing evil to avoid worse?? and is that what Lucy's doing too?? Or is she just smitten? can't think why?

sweetlyssa (50) - did you think it was backbone?? I thought he was finally cracking - a nice arc through 2-3 eps of him being under more and more pressure - he finally couldnt take anymore? He doesnt have any back up for next? the "process" for concealing the vampires has now gone?



Tho had to cheer when he got him! how bad is that!

Another great episode. Which gave me the taste to watch series one again!..And i noticed something....If a vampires image cannot be captured on picture or film...then how come mitchell has a hospital ID card???????.......x

Loved that episode. I loved the cleverness of telling the two stories in tandem and showing the parralels between them. I was very surprised at Mitchell killing again, I just hope he can stay off blood now he's had another taste.



Not sure how I want Mitchell and Lucy's relationship to go, would it be cheesy for them to accept eachother and become a proper couple at the end of the series? Probably.



George is again learning that Mitchell has enough experience of relationships to give good advice, Sam is lovely but he isn't over Nina yet. Speaking of Nina, where is she? do they keep her locked up all month or do they let her back into the hospital. I think we are building to Nina and George meeting again at the end of the series, but will she make it out alive? :S



Anyway, great episode, despite it being pretty late I don't think I can resist giving it another watch before tonight.



I ordered one of the books, so that should arrive this week, reckon it will keep me occupied for, ooh, about a day or two. :D

I've been watching Being Human from the beginning. Amazing show! I hope the actors read the blog and all the amazing comments and realise that they are doing an absolutlet phenomenal job, along with all the crew!

I weep when I catch glimpses of series 2 on tv :( not in a good way. What on earth happened to the amazing series I fell in love with? Series 2 = epic FAIL in my, albeit, fairly insignificant opinion :(

I found the episode particularly moving



- the central tragedy of Annie and Mitchell's inability to have a family and George's desperate attempts to get an instant family



- the thought of 'ghost babies' that need to be kept cool, not warm



- the plight of Josie, her strength and pluckiness (was she saved or was she converted?)



- the agonies of the paedophile, using the same explanation for his behaviour as Mitchell uses for his blood addiction



- Mitchell's pitiful relapse



And yet, there were plenty of heartwarming domestic scenes with Tim (aaaaahhh!), with the delightful Molly, as well as the shocking moment when the Chief Constable got his come-uppance. There was a glorious and absorbing flashback to the swinging sixties and the reappearance of Herrick. What more could you ask for, except that the episode continued for another hour?

I loved this episode. It had everything that makes the show for me. The babies were a new thing but watching all interact wasa nice. The inspector, oooooh he was worse than Herrick and he pushed and pushed. I'm glad he's dead ( or recruited... He can do his own dirty work)



I loved the music and using "Somebody to love" by Jefferson Airplane was absolute genius (WAS singing away (and frightening my cats). AND HERRICK..... YAY!!!!! It was so good to see him.



I loved the duel for the baby but it may have been funnier if Annie got the teapot instead of the toaster but it was still funny. I'm like everyone one here. Desperate to see episode 6... Roll on next Sunday.

I think ewan is talking about how Pirates of the Carribean, directed by Jerry Brukheimer, tries to be epic but ends up being crap. :D

one teeenn tiny querythough, i thought that in series one josie and mitchell are talking (when they are on the bed i think..) and josie says somethign like, 'i remember the first time i saw you, you made me go weak at the knees in the cafe' and then mitchell says, 'yeh and there you were trying to look all cool smoking your cigarette' and then somethign like she was smokign the wrong end of it as she was so bowled over by him. And that was the FIRST time they met, which is not what this episode is saying at all :S :S :S hmmmm





but i am nitpicking :P thought it was a lovely episode, and liking lucy more- sam though?? :S nahhhh unbelievable for me that george likes her, i guess new george would though, i am just biased towards nina :P xx

celticgrace (51) - I agree. If Mitchell had kept his cool, he would have disposed of the body and cleaned up before going to see Lucy. He really does seem to be more of a follower type than a leader; he's fine when other people are giving him directions, but he loses it when he has to take charge.



Also, good point about Ivan! That would have been a neat little solution, certainly more pragmatic than killing the chief constable. Ivan would get to feed, the police would get their criminals disposed of, everyone would be happy.



(You made a good case for sticking with the show in our previous discussion, btw. :) I liked this episode more, even though the friendships are continuing to deteriorate. The continuing insistence on romantic relationships as the key to a happy life is beginning to irk me a little. Some of us are happy singles, lol.)

71 - Toby is a genius, no argument. :)



But it does seem to me that all of the characters seem unfulfilled without romantic love this series. There's a lot more pairing off: George with Nina and Sam, Annie with Saul and Hugh, Mitchell with Lucy and young Josie. Last series, we had Annie and Owen (and we know how that turned out), Mitchell and Lauren (but there was no mention of love between them), and George and Nina, who had only begun dating at that point. Now they're all trying to find romance.



It's interesting that in the preview, when Annie says to George, "It's us against the world," George replies with, "I don't want to be against the world anymore." It seems, by extension, that he doesn't want there to be an "us" anymore, either. I'm not seeing the platonic love that should exist between them as friends - that did exist back in series 1 when they were like family.



72 - But Mitchell's already crossed the "no killing" line in agreeing to let Ivan feed. Of course it's all just shades of grey, but wouldn't it be *better* of him to let Ivan feed on criminals than innocents like that poor vampire groupie girl?



The chief constable was a nicely complex character. As much as he was enjoying the power he had over Mitchell, he didn't ask him to kill an innocent man. In fact, in a wisted way, he was trying to do the right thing too, by serving out justice to those the system can't handle. I find myself hoping that Mitchell has recruited rather than killed him. Although that would probably result in a leadership struggle between Mitchell and him.

#60 @celticgrace - well, I said glimpses. But. I was such a die-hard fan during series one, that I must admit I have watched all episodes in Series 2 all the way through on iPlayer. And it was like watching a different programme altogether. Bitterly disappointed but mostly just really sad about it :( the quality and thought just isn't there at all

As much as I'm enjoying the show and I know I'm going off topic but, the legend of the werewolf is half man half wolf so why does everyone change the man into a wolf?

For example when the American werewolf in London was changing I felt a bit cheated to see a large dog at the end. I mean half way through the transformation was a really good place to stop, and if I saw that creature following me then I'd be scared but a large dog or wolf. Well, I'd be more likely to adopt it...

And I don't understand how Mitchell a vampire can eat? I know he's given up blood but he's a vampire therefore he's still dead so he wouldn't have a digestive system?

Finally managed to watch the episode...in a word "hmm" lol it was alright - no Nina and no Lloyd so I'm bound to be a bit miffed lol it was good and I'm sure it went down well due to the amount of half naked Mitchell going on...I did like it and if I'm honest its probably one I'll watch over and over it was nice and safe and kinda I dunno its always nice to know the back story but nothing really happened :-S I was expecting a big climax I was expecting to find out that Sam and Molly are vampires (totally think they are but was expecting to find it out this episode) hmm I dunno maybe its just because I've had an exciting and long day and I'm a bit hyperactive and tired (yes I can be both at the same time lol) I think I wanted "wow" and didn't really get it...don't get me wrong mind it was still ten times better than anything else on telly lol just in comparison to the others it didn't have any reaaaaaaaaally hilarious or reaaaaaaally tense bits you know?



Probably just me :-P also can't decide if I like the really crude parallels between Herrick/the copper Josie/Lucy and Mitchell/the paedo - obviously they know best but I was kinda thinking "yeah we know what you're doing you don't have to spell it out quite so loudly I'm not an idiot" lol but like I said - they know best - and maybe or everyone else it really worked :-) again - probably just me lol usually is!



On the upside cos I do like to end on a positive - I loved the bits with the baby I thought that was lovely and very sad in parts yes I loved seeing Aidan with a baby lol it suits him and yes I did rather enjoy the nakedness :-P was still a great episode just wasn't massively blown away by it is all.



Next week I'm thinking - we find out Sam and Molly are vampires, George gets back with Nina (please) and Lloydy boy and Kemp do some generally badass stuff.

Aaww...makes me all broody.

(67) - Yes, that was the only thing i didn't like about the flashbacks. The story that Josie told in S1 about them meeting in the cafe and the ciagrette was such a sweet memory. other than that the young actress was great and I liked how it all panned out. I was glad I knew Herrick was gonna pop up at some point though, the shock would have really scared me otherwise! And I've said it once and I'll say it again, Herrick had it for Mitchell so bad!



favourite moment, Mitchell frantically cleaning the flat. he was a demon with that hoover!

If you check the subtitles on iPlayer George says his mother's maiden name is Herord, not Herrick!

Morning all...not long got out of bed (don't ask)...



Have now exceeded the insanity that accompanies this series...managed to see Ep5 5x since 9pm yesterday...



Couldn't quite understand why the Mitchell-meeting-Josie storyline was altered from S1 to S2 either...wonder what the reason for this was?



Mitchell's cracking-up scene very touching and emotional...I was on tenterhooks thinking Lucy was going to chase him around the kitchen with that damned stake, though I knew he wasn't going to die...but I thought she'd have a go at him anyway, that he'd stop her and it would all get very messy...in a way it is messy, but emotionally so this time, rather than bloody...but I think we have lots of blood next time or Ep7 or 8...there's definitely a big build-up coming..



Bad-ass Chief Constable got his comeuppance..his extension won't get finished now...but poor Mitchell trying to come to terms with killing once more even though he didn't feed was a bit of a welling-up moment.....



Josie and Mitchell were realistic...there was some discussion about her accent I think (I've not read all blog posts) and it was an unusual accent...Charlene McKenna tried really hard to get the accent and in the main succeeded but sometimes once or twice she did sound a bit Australian, believe it or not, where she was tied to the bookcase I think, just a couple of words here and there, and then sometimes her Irish accent came through....however, Claire Higgins' accent in S1 didn't sound one hundred per cent English, there's a hint of perhaps Irish or something else in her voice...just the very tiny inflection...when she's telling George that Mitchell is the link in the hospital between the vampires and the recruitment process, she says "when you've dated a vampire you tend to have a different criteria for what's ridiculous"...a little bit of that is evident there, particularly when she says 'ridiculous'..



George and Sam thing was rather sweet to start with, but G is now losing the plot slightly in his desperation to become 'normal' and his rebound from Nina who is lurking in the sidelines...she'll be back! Can't keep a good Nina down...and she's one letter away from being a Ninja!



The whole yearning to be normal feeling was evident in this episode more because of the fact that George feels he can't have an average family life he always craved, and that Mitchell and Annie will never (at least in her case) have children...those babies are adorable...TwinA17 you did 'em proud!..it gave it a poignancy opposite to the savagery of the killing of the Chief Constable...two sides of the same coin.



And I still think Lucy is bad...calls herself religious and then has to hold off killing a being she's spent the night with...odd that...if she was that religious you'd have thought sex outside of marriage would've not been on her agenda, but we are talking Mitchell here so I for one can quite understand her caving in...hehe



The final scenes I don't really feel I have to say much about except to repeat the feeling that there are a lot of ladies out there who would have loved to have changed places with Charlene and Lyndsey....



I'm sure I've missed stacks of stuff but I'm off to potter awhile and reminisce about why I was born many years later than I should've been and why I never took up acting when I had the chance!

Morning all. More I think about it nah not keen on that episode at all - we always said we wanted more Josie back story but thats not what happened lol episode 5 series 1 anyone?? Mitchell and Josie explained how they met and nowhere did being tied to a bookcase feature? :-S if they wanted to do that story fine but they shouldnt have made it Josie :-S and no I didnt like the reaaaaaaaaaally obvious parallels it just didn't seem very...I dunno it just didn't fit for me it felt far too forced and obvious as apposed to the usual more subtle approach...just it felt quite out of place with the rest of this series and the first.



Thought maybe I'd change my mind after thinking about it a bit lol but unfortunately not :-S next weeks mind - next weeks looks fantastic!

I agree for some reason the whole didnt quite hold together though it was full of really interesting - and scary - and moving - parts. Almost like they tried to put too much in? Annie's story was a bit underwritten? though her new yearnings - and George's dash for love and family felt true - and both supported Mitchell's search (now and 60s) for some understanding of what he is and how he can be good?

His breakdown was so touching and the flashback made more sense of that - though as someone said the flashback story could have been a shorted and sharper parallel? But many of us have wanted to see the early Josie story so maybe we cant blame the writers for going to town on it? It didnt quite make sense to me - even aside from the inconsistency with S1 story - would anyone accept a murderer like that - even if they do look like AT? They tried to make her stroppy and brave to avoid her looking like a victim character looking for an abusive type - but it still didnt completely convince. And I would have liked to see more of how Lucy goes from doing her Samaritan bit with distressed Mitchell - to falling into bed with him? that felt a bit rushed (and not because I wanted to see Mitchell doing a slower kit-off scene - honest!) - she has just made a very dubious decision and we didnt really see her do it - we saw more of her not-staking him decision which was actually easier??

So a bit mixed like some others? Having said that I couldnt get it out of my mind - couldnt sleep! and there arent many current dramas that you can say that about?

Think I need to watch it a few more times - not yet 5x - Im slacking!

Celticgrace (51) and Mbn(69) I have to say that I'm in total agreement with you. As a leader Mitchell decided to kill the inspector for the good of the vampire community , apparantly didn't feed from him, and totally went to pieces leaving the body for the other vampires to find, before running wildly through the streets to confess all to Lucy, not George or Ivan.

Also how did he enter Josie and the child molesters house? Shouldn't he have been invited in?

OO Deadly Secret... That's a good point. The invitation thing is so important! It's about the only weapon people have against the vamps in BH. Maybe in Josie's case the apartment building is enough... but i dont really like the rule working that way. And the paedophile.. well, i can't really see him living with someone else but i suppose they could argue there was someone else there who let Mitchell in..



It looks a LOT like a mistake though and reinforces my belief that the writing was rushed.

Also can't understand how in the sixties scene when Mitchell left the flat after cleaning it up, the police were knocking on doors about an incident upstairs and Mitchell had only just left the flat--who reported it? had did the police know what had happened?

hey team this was a really good ep there were a few mistakes but i still really liked it Mitchell got his kit of 3 times Annie with the lovely babies and George just being very Georgie

I was disappointed too, for the reasons others stated , the invitation and Josie's changed back story. Unless it's another Josie?

Did anyone notice Lenora saying that they had to reshoot a scene even though some of them were happy with the take they had? She said something like 'Can't have anyone upstaging Aidan'. What did that mean?!? Do we think Aidan T is a bit of a drama queen and likes to rule the roost?



Sorry, this is off-topic I know but I was intrigued. Good episode, I thought, despite the flaws and continuity stuff pointed out above. Everyone seemed to have some sort of emotional journey/development; very interesting and well acted all round, I thought.

(98) It might just have been a 'spare' shot - a slightly different angle, or a repeat of what they had in case things looked different in the editing suite. If the cast had a slightly off beat expression for a particular line, then the insurance shot would mean that they could try another look. That or AT really did stamp his foot ;)
