BH2: STORY OF THE SERIES
I can't lie to you BH fans, I have some seriously HUGE NEWS (yes, the capitals are essential - it's that good). But here's the twist. I can't tell you what it is until next week. I know, I know, and it's killing me keeping this under wraps, but trust me, come back on Monday and you will not be disappointed.
But for now we have a special update. Since today is the official end of filming for series two of Being Human, we felt it was only right to take a trip down memory lane to see just how far we've come with the story of the series...

It all began on Monday 10th August at a deconsecrated church in Bristol. The production had been weeks in the planning stages, with a whole team writing contracts, booking crew, hiring equipment and finalising locations. But now the waiting was over and the cameras began rolling, with Aidan the first of our cast to take to the set... on his own! It wasn't until the next day when Russell and Lenora had their first scenes.

This is when it really felt like BH was back on track, as we returned to Totterdown. Here Russell, Aidan, Lenora and Sinead were reunited as their alter-egos George, Mitchell, Annie and Nina for the first time in eight long months. With director Colin Teague at the helm, it was like no time had passed at all and as the sun shone down and everyone picked up a tan it began to feel like nothing could go wrong. But things were about to get a little tougher...

For series two the team wanted to create a sense of scale and a real epic quality that added to the drama. This meant the crew were setting up in more locations than ever before, including the middle of a forest, the top of a multi-storey car park, a former Bank of England vault, a train carriage, a graveyard and even an enormous complex of underground in caves (which, for the record, were pitch black, muddy and gross... but look great on camera).

Then the night shoots kicked in, with everyone working from 8pm until 5am in order to shoot the scenes set in darkness. But the mood stayed strong, with the catering team as cheerful as they made everyone their lunch... at midnight. Even a bleary-eyed Aidan managed to find the energy for an interview at 4am, and for that we will be forever grateful.

As we moved into episodes four and five Director Kenny Glenaan took the helm, with storylines that saw George, Mitchell and Annie venturing into some of their some of their deepest storylines of the series. As the scenes got more emotional things turned more intense for the cast, as they managed to turn in some incredible performances.

However, this period also featured a lot of fun here on the blog. We met Tom the runner, who kept everyone fed and watered. Tom even worked so hard that he took to sleeping in the production trailers from time to time...! Derek kept the BH production base on track, moving the huge complex of lorries around Bristol so that the make-up, costume and catering were never too far away from the show's locations. And the fabulous Marcus provided us with some top make-up tips for the spookiest part of the Being Human calendar - our very first Halloween!
Soon it was the turn of Charles Martin, the third and final director, to take the production into its final phase. What had always been a gory shoot all of a sudden got even more blood-splattered, with many shoots requiring the crew to don their protective overalls.

And now we come hurtling towards the end of the production... Those sunny August days have been replaced by freezing December nights, and the team are getting ready to shoot their final shots of the series. All that's left now is for the directors to craft their episodes in the edit and the CGI guys to add their magic touches and the series will be ready.
And we can't wait.
So that's it for our production updates, but don't forget to come back on Monday for the special announcement...

Thanks BhTeam..great info and pics..esp the last one of the beautiful one..eating...as usual...
The settings for some of the scenes sound truely chilling ( if not a little damp!) and you've made it clear over last few months that blood and gore were going to be oozing in great quantities throughout BH2
Wondering about that final scene with George and Nina and wondering if the series ends on a cliff-hanger with one of them ( Nina) in life/death situation. Saw tweet on #beinghuman earlier from woman in Bristol who saw scenes with men in machine guns...hoping that they weren't shooting at werewolves...! We'll have to see.
So..something exciting on Monday heh
And have a blogging great party tonight all of you with love to all cast and crew still there ( esp the beautiful one if he hasn't gone to London)

Or is it that it's being kept in Bristol (I really, really hope so...it's part of us here now...it's like we feel it't a part-time home for you all)....whatever it is, and we could guess our lives away here, can't wait for Monday..

J: Wookey Hole...loads of caves there...not too far away, near Cheddar.. about an hour's drive....it's a shame but too far away to film as they're here, but if they really wanted to film in spooky caves, Chislehurst in Kent has some...they're not as cathedral-like or impressive but they are most certainly creepy...the Druids lived in them for a while...sacrifices took place there...you can see the place where they did that...

The cave scenes sound .scary! Thinking that's where some nasty vampires might be living/hiding..as long as they haven't held the one and only vampire down there..think of the poor boy's chest! ( steady girls)
Brown: that forest pic definately loks like someone is sitting/lying down there and he/she looks half naked...I'm remembering the bit on the Nottingham BH2 Trailer when George was 'getting poetic' in the wood s with ..someone..could have ben Nina.

Didn't last long last night as had stuff to do, dozed and then perked up and watched History Boys...really enjoyed it...Russell had more to do in it than I thought he would somehow....aw his little face! :-)
Dorina: Afternoon....if BBC1 had it on initially it would get a whole lot more coverage so I'm with you on that...makes a lot more sense...
Repeating my previous post (9) after checking out the pics again...why is Aidan so slim whilst ramming chocolate and biscuits and probably a whole load of forbidden foods (for me, that is) down his gullet?? This is grossly unfair....Aidan, please tell me your secrets...when I was your age I was slim but did a whole lot more sport than I suspect you do, was on the go a lot more (believe me I was) but couldn't eat what you do...grrrr..
Joooos (56) Was going to have an early night but ended up doing a load of stuff I found that I didn't know I had, and did that, then couldn't sleep so watched the History Boys...great film...am now on Twitter on and off all day inbetween other things...
Allyska (57) Must get round to watching The Hunger...never seen it yet...you relive those years, goth or otherwise....it's good to revisit from time to time! Glad you survived your encounter as well as your course which sounded really...riveting (bet you preferred AT any day) - who wouldn't?

Well what fantastic news for Toby...don't know how he would get to hear our congratulations but...Congratulations Toby..richly and rightly deserved. Oh and thanks to celticgrace ( great name) for that info.Do you think this is the news for Monday?...can't be I guess if it's 'out there' already so to speak.
Agree eagle:...here's hoping that we're not all totally underwhelmed by Monday's news..we can only but trust in our lovely BHTeam. Beyond all the suggestions so far can't think what it might be and as much as I'd love it to be a party/invite for all the bloggers to meet the cast/crew/etc somewhere somehow I think that's very unlikely....but a woman can dream!
Anglo: It has been my observation in life that the only 'domestic goddesses 'are women who go on tele and are paid fortunes to explain how to be a dg ...whilst paying someone to sort out their own homes/cooking/lives !
I'm a Merlin fan as well ( can't work out why but there's something about those storylines about having to hide the magic ) and I also saw the short Merlin Uncapped or whatever it was called with Colin and Bradley miming to John Farham's classic song..loved it!
Back to Aidan ( doesn't everything seem to go back to him..!) As a mum of a 20 something I think his ability to scoff/drink anything and not put weight on is to do with his age...my daughter is just the same although she does have a very busy life as well which no doubt helps. I was excatly the same in my 20s and 30s...could eat anything and made no difference. Now's a different story and I have to eat more sensibly and take a lot more exercise to keep myself as I want to be.
