I live in Norway and just happened on to a clip from BH on our BBC Entertainment netsite awhile back. I LOVE Russell Tovey and have since I saw him at the National Theatre in the History Boys a couple of years ago. Since we don't get all the good stuff here in Norway, I buy alot of BBC series from Amazon. Life on Mars, Nighty Night (really funny!), Primeval, Cranford, etc. and of course Being Human. I'm so glad a second series is coming next year. Just wish I could get it on TV instead of having to wait for the DVD.



I am not your typical twenty-something(the main target group for BH)...I'm a 58 year old drama teacher originally from the US. I just can't get enough of quality British acting. I get over to London several times a year for theatre as well as watching British TV. Maybe I'll move to England when I retire!



Looking forward to series 2 of BH!

Hello, eagle_eyes4! Thanks for the tip...I can watch 10 minute segments at a time on Youtube, but I don't think I can watch episodes directly on the net...unless I download illegally. I wish I could! I would gladly pay to be able to do that. I can't even watch the videos they have on this site. I just get a "not available in this area" message on my screen. I guess I'll just have to be patient. I've got Ashes to Ashes coming in the mail soon, so I'll be able to see Philip Glenister. He's brilliant. I'm also looking forward to series 3 of Primeval. Cheers,arnellen

We got Life on Mars-series 1 here on NRK (Norwegian National Television). Actually,they show alot of British TV. We've had Rebus and some Waking the Dead, Ab- Fab, Black Adder. Norwegians LOVE Mr. Bean. BBC Entertainment is our satelite channel. We get stuff a long time after you've seen it. Endless reruns of Keeping Up Appearances and the Vicar of Dibley. They ran the second season of Hustle, which I loved, and The Long Firm...Mark Strong is wonderful.



I'm looking forward to Ashes to Ashes, but I have a feeling it's not going to be as good as Life on Mars. I'll miss John Sim. But as you say, Gene Hunt is a great character and Glenister is really great in the part.

Hello, eagle! We get Catherine Tate here, too. LOVE her! Espesially Nan. I saw Matthew Horne in Entertaining Mr. Sloan last time I was in London. He's brilliant, too. Also, Little Britain. How could I forget that one! All in all, just thankful that we get the stuff we get from you guys!

Yeah Mat Horne is brilliant (hes in Gavin and Stacey too) him and James Corden have just done a sketch show over here - it was Ok there were a few good sketches but I liked them better in Gavin and Stacey and Mat in Catherine Tate to be honest.



Have you seen the Catherine tate's comic relief sketch from a couple of years ago with David Tennant? If not youtube it - brilliant! :-D

Ok just read a synopsis thing of being human and i was described as "a bizzare supernatural sitcom"



that has got to be the worst description ever - I wouldnt watch that it sounds awful lol it's far from a sitcom...

'sitcom' conjures up images of that horrible canned laughter.



But I know quite a few people who never started to watch it because of the 'comedy' tag it got and no matter how many times I told them it was actually very dark with funny bits in it...it was too late, they had made their minds it wasn't for them......still, their loss.

Don't get me wrong I LOVE a lot of sitcoms but "bizzare supernatural sitcom" just conjures images of spaced and (gets ready to run...) I really - as much as I love Simon Pegg - was not a fan - but I've not met anyone who agrees with me on that yet :-S

Just watched the Catherine Tate/David Tennant sketches. Thanks for the tip. Really good! as far as sit-coms go: i truly hate canned laughter. some of the stuff from the US has it after every line. it's just noise! why do they do that?!?



And superOchre: I love Simon Pegg, too. Bought Spaced at HMV after seeing Shawn of the Dead (at least 5 times! I'd watch it with anybody who hadn't seen it before. Penelope Wilton is one of my favorites!)I thought Spaced was good. Not great, but it was nice seeing Simon and Nick acting together again. I wasn't that excited about Hot Fuzz, but it was okay, too.

I dont like canned laughter but i dont mind things that have actually been filmed in front of a live audience, or most these days actually use a mixture of both - im more a fan of british sitcom - two pints (always the first to try something new which is brilliant and a young female writer which is always good for inspiration :-D) my family, not going out, black books (dylan moran and bill bailey what more could you want?!) and obviously the classics ab fab, vicar of dibley and of course only fools and horses (which Toby hates lol first person ive ever heard of not liking it!)



but there are some good american ones too - i mean obviously friends - it really was a briliant show and i love the cartoon ones - the simpsons, family guy and americn dad - brilliant - seth macfarlane really is a genius.





The theory is that laughing is a group thing - and that you're more likely to laugh in a group and canned laughter's supposed to give you that feeling and sort of gives you permission to laugh if you like and also it's meant to recreate a sort of theatre atmosphere. Most film in front of a live audience now though where possible and if not they'll sometimes show the program to a live audience after its been made (they did that with red dwarf because of the special effects etc i think...)
