Hope I'm just having a grumpy night, but the direction seems to have lost its swagger compared to the pilot.

I had thought that the first episode might just be a re-do of the pilot. In the end, I think this brought plenty for existing fans and new viewers.

First class writing, plotting and great characters. Nice balance of humour and horror. At its best when it does realism. What would it be like if there were vampires and ghosts and werewolves living amongst us..How do these three fight their afflication/curse and do battle against their own kind is really engrossing.Love Eric the vampire policeman and the emerging werewolf leader. Okay fantasy, but done in a real gritty way - and some brilliant one liners. will watch again and again and can't wait for next episode

I enjoyed the pilot and to a point this first episode, so I hope that all I have missed will be evident in the episodes to come.
