Anne Diamond and Sarah Young
The pain of losing a beautiful son. That was my guest today, Sarah Young, who lost six year old Ollie to a devastating brain tumour. It was dreadfully painful to hear how there was a mere 12 weeks from the first headaches and feelings of dizziness, to Ollie losing his fight for life. Sometimes life can be very cruel. But Sarah is determined to keep Ollie's name alive, and raise funds for research. She's set up a Foundation, which has already raised £60k but has to raise another £30k just to fund one PhD research commitment - £137k to take it to post-doctoral stage.
Amazingly, brain tumour research receives less than 1 per cent of national cancer spending. So there's plenty of room for change - and growth. Best wishes to Sarah in her quest.
