Four acts have been announced for the 2015 ‘Scratch My Progress’ talent development programme, run by The Oh Yeah Music Centre in Belfast. They are:
Sister Ghost - the solo project from ex-Vanilla Gloom front woman, Shannon Delores O'Neill. Hailing from Co.Derry, she is currently based in Belfast. With recent releases of ‘Spineless Whisper’ and ‘Scent’ both making ATL’s Track for the Day, her music is characterised as alternative rock and garage punk.
Treehome – a trio from Belfast - Ben Flavelle-Cobain, Michael Culbert and Sam Green, who formed in 2013. They infuse elements of Soul, Funk, Jazz and Rock backed up by catchy melodies, tasty riffs and pop sensibilities. The ATL team were a big fan of single ‘Keep Our Loving Discrete’ making it Track for the Day and have had them in session on the show.
Owen Denvir - a Belfast-born singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. After spending 2 years living in Edinburgh performing at the 2013 and 2014 Fringe festivals, as well as becoming resident musician at Amicus Apple, Owen is now based in Ireland once again – ‘Human Touch’ - one of his recent releases made one of ATL’s Track for the Days.
Plague Artists – a Belfast band brought together through a love of Alternative and Grunge music, with Jamie Peters, Chris Mahood, John Hanna & Leighton Robinson. ATL had them in for a Making of for their debut EP release ‘What Floats Like Flies’ which includes the anthemic track ‘Into You’.
Scratch My Progress will help to develop their talent over the next 10 months through providing studio time, a professional photo shoot, vocal coaching, copyright, IP and licensing support, PR and digital marketing advice and one-to-one meetings with industry professionals.
This follows on the success of three previous Scratch My Progress programmes, whose graduates include Hot Cops, Go Wolf, Frances Mitchell of Loris and Katharine Philippa.
Scratch My Progress is supported by the PRS for Music Foundation, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, PledgeMusic and Help Musicians UK.
