Niamh Hegarty joined Rigsy and Stu this week to talk new music...
Girl Band – Busy At Maths
Niamh: “They’ve announced a new album and they’re currently on tour in the US…they are a band that are just on the rise.”
Spekulativ Fiktion/ Danny Deepo – Broken Beat
Niamh: “It’s Cork Hip Hop with a dash of Trad at times…another example of the often unexplored but rich scene that is Irish Hip Hop. I just think Spek (Spekulativ Fiktion) is a poet with no fear when it comes to pushing boundaries and mixing genres, and that’s what makes his sound so unique.”
Rigsy: “This is nasty, in a good way.”
Viola Dust – Beast
Stu: “Viola Dust introduced themselves last year…this sounds fairly gracious and effortless.”
B**** Falcon – Breed
Niamh: “There’s just no other band quite like them in Ireland at the minute, and they’re making a massive impact. I absolutely love this track…just a real 80’s sound.”
CM88 – Electric Beach
Niamh: “I actually don’t know much about CM88, but I just absolutely love this track…it’s pretty gorgeous.”
Petty Youth – Caught Up On You
Stuart: “The essence of everything that’s fearless and dirty and mean… They remind me of The Hives and that’s a good thing!”
Here We Stand – Walker
Niamh: “This is their brand new single and they’re a young and upcoming band from Cork. I just really like their sound, and they have a fantastic energy live…they’re really positive and they have a technicality that’s beyond their young years.”
