In a topsy turvy year full of unpredictability, somethings will remain a comforting constant at this time of year. The leaves will turn brown and fall from the trees, presenters start telling you how many days remain until Christmas, and the Northern Ireland Music Prize returns. Now back for its 7th year, in its history the prize has celebrated the likes of Ryan Vail & Elma Orkestra, The Wood Burning Savages, SOAK and many more. This year is no exception, and the long lists and ultimate short lists throw up fierce competition with numerous awards distributed throughout numerous categories up for grabs. These include; Outstanding Contribution to Music Award, Oh Yeah Legend Award, Best Album, Best Live Act, Best Single and the Oh Yeah Contender Award in Association with ATL Introducing.

Each longlist and shortlist will be decided by an academy of hand-picked nominators from the music industry. Best Live Act and the Oh Yeah Contender Award in Association with ATL Introducing once shortlisted will be decided by YOU. So make sure to get your voting hats on. Our very own Gemma Bradley is on the longlist best single.

The longlist for both Best Album and Single Awards have been announced, with an impressive 53 albums and 84 singles making the list. Each album and single on the longlist has received votes from chosen NI Music Prize nominators. In coming days the shortlist of 6 singles and 12 selected albums will be announced. Are you as excited as team ATL to find out?
