Are you an aspiring radio presenter? Have a passionate for youth culture and music? Love BBC Radio 1? Well then, this might just be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for…
Radio 1's Christmas Presenters Search kicked off today with a call-out for promising DJs and presenters with previous radio experience – whether that’s in community or with hospital, student or local radio.
This exciting new schedule is due to take place between Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve this year with BBC Radio 1 bringing in a bunch of brand new presenters showcasing the best in new and emerging talent by offering this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to broadcast on what is the UK’s biggest youth radio station!
Aled Haydn Jones, Head of Radio 1, said: “We’re really proud to be offering this opportunity again for upcoming broadcasters to take their first steps onto the national stage. We welcomed some incredible new talent onto the station last year and I’m looking forward to hearing from the next generation of DJs and presenters again this year.”
In 2019, Radio 1 introduced the guest presenter slots for the very first time, giving 35 people a chance to host their own show on the network over the festive period. Among those previously selected were YouTuber and activist Lucy Edwards, who became the first blind presenter to host a show on the station, and presenter and podcaster Jacob Edward who became Radio 1’s first non-binary presenter.
Aine Cronin-McCartney, a regular contributor to ATL Introducing, was one of the lucky few chosen to take over the Huw Stephens Introducing Show in December last year!
So if you think you’ve got what it takes, all you need to do is submit a short form and demo here before the closing date on Sunday September 20th!
Good luck!
