Bare Bear – Venice Is Sinking

Friday 9th December, 2016

They say: “Venice Is Sinking, like the other songs on the EP, were written by me (Ben Forbes) on my acoustic in my bedroom while I was at uni. The following summer me and my friend recorded the EP in his living room back in Enniskillen. I'm thinking of expanding into kitchens and bathrooms in the future.

Initially I wasn't even sure if anyone would get to hear them, so it's great that one of them has been deemed decent enough to be featured on ATL's Track for the Day. As far as Venice itself is concerned, it's a really great city and I hope it never actually sinks. The song is probably not actually about Venice sinking, but the I'll let you take from it what you will.”

We say: “Peppered with delicate guitar tones and some sizable riffs, ‘Venice Is Sinking’ reminds us of bands like More Than Conquerors and at points Axis Of or Biffy Clyro with their rousing vocals in the chorus.

The contrast of the verses and chorus make for a very enjoyable listen and it’s quite impressive for a band so early in their musical careers.”

‘Venice Is Sinking’ is from Bare Bear’s eponymous debut EP. It was released on the 23rd of November and is available to listen to now.
