BRØR - Something New

Monday 12th December, 2016

They say: “The song is written about a home invasion incident that happened to a friend. It is not a literal telling but more of an exploration into what traumatic events like that might leave behind and the walls they put up between us.

However for a song basically about isolation, the recording of it was pretty much the opposite. We had a makeshift choir of our musical friends to come into the studio and record with us to give the track an energy and a joy that hopefully balance out the slightly depressing under current.

We even had Weston from the band Hunkpapa come in on a separate occasion to add some much need hollering and general manic yelling."

We say: Something New juxtaposes emotive, lyrical prose with rollicking riffs, massive drums and a catchy chorus. The track feels kinetic and cathartic in equal measure, the icing on the cake being a gleefully exuberant choir on backing vocals.”

BRØR are brothers Ben and Johno Whittington, formerly of indie outfit How. Recorded with Chris Ryan at Start Together Studios, this is their first release.
