Shrug Life - Making Progress

Wednesday 2nd March 2016

They Say: “Making Progress is the follow up to our debut EP ‘The Grand Stretch’ released via Popical Island in the heady, innocent days of July 2015. The song was produced by veteran wildcard Fiachra McCarthy (Squarehead, Dott, So Cow). He’s fond of us using big muff pedals and a 10 euro mini-megaphone where possible. All warblings, thuds and stutters were recorded in the dank rehearsal space ‘The Pop Inn’ on Little Britain Street in Dublin.

Lyrically the song was fuelled by the uncertainty and false promise of electioneering Ireland. The inevitable platitudes and insincere sloganeering of the campaign trail. The same divide, with a different name. I could go on, but the song is enough of a soapbox already…”

We Say:  “Intense jangle-pop with the charm of a young Morrissey. But beyond the melodic swell there are barbed lines about Irish politics and a supposed culture of brown envelopes, back-handers and venal behaviour. A soundtrack to those who are fed up with base electioneering.”

The Dublin band consists of: Danny Carroll on Vocals & Guitar, Josh Donnelly on Drums and Keith Broni on Bass.
