SOAK has won the Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year 2015 for her debut album Before We Forgot How to Dream.

U2’s Adam Clayton presented the €10,000 prize on stage at Dublin's Vicar Street to Bridie Monds-Watson, saying she was “one cool lady”.

The 19 year old said in her acceptance speech that she felt “class” and that no matter your age, you can really go out and do anything you want to do. And you should.

Presenting the award, Clayton paid tribute to all the artists, saying the musical talent and the breadth of diversity that exists within the Irish music scene is truly exceptional.

SOAK recently also picked up the NI Music Prize in November 2015 and was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in October 2015. In the same year, she also made the longlist for BBC's Sound of 2015

Ten Irish acts battled it out on Thursday night in Dublin for the prize, which is now in its 11th year.

Previous winners of the award have included two-time winner Jape, The Divine Comedy, Julie Feeney and The Gloaming.

Gavin James was also awarded Choice Music Prize Song of the Year 2015 with Bitter Pill.

Back in 2012, SOAK performed a beautiful version of Sea Creatures for us in ATL, which you can watch below, and which also features on her prize winning album.
