Shookrah – Gerascophobia

Tuesday 21st March, 2017

They say:
“Gerascophobia was written as a self-reminder of the value of living optimally and discarding the shackles of mid-twenty-something self-degradation (and general fear of the future), while actually being in the prime of life and situationally comfortable.

The idea of being grateful for aging seems like a concept that's missed in the world we live in, in which we constantly seek beauty, perfection and above all, youth - either recreationally or through more wholesome means (in our band, we want a balance of the two with a bit of added weight on the former).

We decided to capture a simple post-Skaggy music video of these wanderings in the mind; the subtle discomfort with where you are in your mind and feelings - all the while trying convince yourself that you're actually alright (which by the end of the video I come to more of an assertion as to).”

We say: “A funky blend of 16 bit era keys and picked guitar, ‘Gerascophobia’ emphasises that we shouldn’t fear becoming older but we should embrace it and live it up while we still can.

One of the highlights of ‘Gerascophobia’ is the flawless vocals delivered by Senita Appiakorang; who is the perfect driving force and accompaniment to the sheer creativity going on here.

Combining elements of hip-hop and funk rock, Shookrah have fashioned up something to be proud of.”

‘Gerascophobia’ is a single taken from their forthcoming EP ‘Cliches’ and you can listen to the single for free now.
