
Music critic, feminist writer and current Editorial Director for Music at MTV, Jessica Hopper has been announced as the keynote speaker for the Women’s Work Festival which takes place in Belfast’s Oh Yeah Centre in March.
Hopper’s Sunday 6th March talk will look at the ‘conversation around inclusivity in the music industry’ and how ‘accessibility and an equal playing field for women is the path to success’.
Sunday afternoon will also include a panel with Blogger and ATL contributor Niall Byrne (AKA Nialler 9), Jenny Wren from Body & Soul and Tanya Sweeny from the Irish Times.
Women in live sound and engineering will also be discussed with Julie McLamon from Analogue Catalogue Studio and Una Monaghan, at an evening event.
Already announced for the festival is Annie Nightingale who will be ‘In Conversation’, followed by DJ set of music that has inspired her during her 50 years in broadcasting, on Friday 4th March.
The festival aims to highlight and celebrate women in music and there will be a number of workshops and live showcases featuring artists Saint Sister, Katharine Philippa, Jealous of the Birds, the Go Girl collective and more.
