Bouts - Allies
Wednesday 10th February 2016
They Say: “Allies is a fairly straightforward rock track (by our sometimes over-complicated standards) with relatively direct lyrics (again, by our standards). With our new tracks we consciously took steps to pare down and distil our songwriting approach. We wanted immediacy and simplicity without sacrificing inventiveness. It's about distilling the right elements. After 5 years I think we're getting there. We don't over-analyse the meaning of our tracks, but, if pushed, I would say it's about accepting that sometimes two is better than one and that's it's ok to ask for and accept help from time to time.”
We say: “It’s not just bands north of the border nodding to 90s slacker rock - Dublin’s Bouts are doing a pretty good job as well. Here’s their own spin on scuzzy Indie rock ‘n’ roll, pleading vocals drenched in riffola. A gentle giant.”
‘Allies’ is the next single to be released from Bouts’ upcoming 5-track EP ‘Unlearn’ and will be released as a limited edition 100 cassette run by US label Wiener Records - an offshoot of Burger Records, on 29th February 2016.
