We Are Aerials - Chewing on my Sleeve
They say – “Chewing on my Sleeve from the album, Voeckler, is a tongue in cheek song about trying to work up the nerve to talk to women and failing miserably. The title which makes up the chorus is a reference to a nervous tic that friends sometimes give me grief about. I had the idea for the chorus stuck in my head for months before I got around to writing the rest of the song. One of the influences that seems to have come through in the track is Pearl Jam. I've always listened to a lot of rock, punk and metal but before writing the songs for We Are Aerials, which is a pretty eclectic project, it had been ages since I wrote a song that really embraced those influences. Chewing on My Sleeve was kind of an excuse to pick up the electric guitar and make a racket.”
We say – “Impossible to pin down this lot - 'We Are Chemicals' was goregeous and dreamy while this track, from the same album ('Voeckler') is scrappy, scuzzy indie pop. Very different but equally likable.”
