Joyland – Heavyweight Tyrella
They say – “Heavyweight Tyrella is a song about Tyrella where we come from. After living in London for 10 years it was a song about missing home (we have since returned home 3 months ago). The song pretty much describes where we grew up and fits in well with our bands concept. We only write songs based around the 'sea'. It’s also quite ballady in comparison with our other stuff. As big fans of 80s power ballads we wanted to create our own take on it. I grew up in a house with a lot of Chris De Burgh in the background (not sure if that’s such a good thing though!) and those songs always stayed with me. Songs like border line and ferryman still influence the way we write.”
We Say – “Formerly V/Formation and now re-locating home after a few years in London, the prodigal sons return promising new music and a fresh start. Meantime, here's a belter from a couple of years back - gnarly yet singable indie-pop with a real edge.”
