ASIWYFA Prepare Secret Collaboration

And So I Watch You From Afar will launch a special, multi-media project in 2019, involving orchestral work, lights and visuals. While the band maintain that this will not be their next full album, guitarist Niall Kennedy says it will be “as long as an album”.

The band discussed their plans at the Oh Yeah Music Centre on Thursday, during a ‘Getting To Know” session of music and conversation with ATL’s Stuart Bailie. Band member Rory Frier’s explained further:

“We like to explore certain things and when we’re done with them we move on very quickly. The next thing that we put out is gonna be very very different to The Endless Shimmering. But it’s not the next And So I Watch You From Afar album. We’ve already recorded it. We’re doing a really cool project which will see the light of day next year. It’s sort of a new album but it’s not. It’s a collaboration which is more based around the live show, and it’s gonna be a collaboration with an A/V installation. We are doing some stuff with strings, orchestra stuff. It’s gonna be cool.”

Rory also indicated that work will soon commence on their sixth album, proper.

“We’re gonna start writing the next album. Who knows what it will turn out like? There’s one thing I’ve learnt about the four of us writing music together is that we can go in with a plan but there is not once we have come out with what we originally started chatting about.
