Bringin’ it all Back Home

Across The Line

If it was good enough for Luke Skywalker, then it’s certainly good enough for the cream of Ireland’s musical crop.

When it’s not being used as a Star Wars filming location, Dingle in County Kerry also provides a home base for RTE’s Other Voices, a unique music programme that gathers artists from far and wide to perform in the intimate setting of the 200 year old Church of St James. The main performers have yet to be announced, but the entire town is taken over by music, with the Hennessy Music Trail promising over 35 acts, performing across 12 venues. That’s a lot of music, but keep an eye out for Galway experimental electro producer Daithi, and Derry natives Elma Orkestra and The Wood Burning Savages.

As well as all that, the IMRO Other Voices Open Call is still running and artists of all genres are invited to submit a track. Submissions close on the 11th November, and the winning act will perform at the IMRO Other Room on the 1st December, as RTE 2FM’s Open Call Listener’s Choice. The IMRO Other Room will showcase six of Ireland’s most exciting acts, including our very own Kitt Phillipa, and the Open Call winner.
