The Making of... Fighting With Wire
Referred to as 'Chinese Democracy' (by the band themselves, at Pigstock), to say the second album from Fighting with Wire has been a long time coming is quite the understatement. The good news is it's now streaming here ahead of a release on Monday. A few listens suggests this bad boy was definitely worth the wait! As well as the band recording a session for us (which you can hear on Monday) we've also caught up with fiesty frontman Cahir O'Doherty to find out what makes him and his band tick....

The first record I ever bought was an Erasure album on tape, I can't remember which one but I was a big fan when I was a kid.
The last record I bought was a few weeks ago - it was an album called 'Forever So' by an Australian band called Husky who are signed to Sub Pop. It's a lovely record.
The first gig I ever went to was Nirvana, changed my life forever! Kurt Cobain is a big influence, his songs are amazing and he delivered them in such an exciting way, raw and powerful.
When it comes to artists we all like I think everyone is in agreement with Nirvana.... and Fugazi. We got to tour with Helmet a few months back, a band who we grew up listening to. Normally when you tour with a band you watch a few shows and you either get it or you don't, with Helmet we watched every show every night - it was that good.
It's hard to find good rock music these days, but bands like the Deftones still write great songs and kill it live, that last album 'Diamond Eyes' was definitely an inspiration while working on our new record.
A local act I'd happily share a stage with every night? Everyone knows that I love Lafaro, they're my favourite rock band on the planet right now.
If I could have anyone join our band it would be Mike Patton he's an amazing singer.
I think the first cover version I ever performed was a really bad version of 'House of the Rising Sun', ha ha!
The last cover version I performed was Nirvana's 'Breed' at Electric Picnic this year.
As for a guilty pleasure....I absolutely love Prince, everything he does is amazing!
