That New Band Smell: Ash the Cat

Hey there new music fans. We have three quality new upstarts for your consideration this week. It’s like a musical MENSA of young prodigies, we have a thirteen year old electro producer, a pop punk band in their mid-teens and some quirky electro pop from a brand new band.

Skobar – Freak

Irritatingly young electro prodigy. When this track breaks it’s akin to pulling a jet engine to your face.

Urban Avenue - Try Harder

Another exceptional batch of teenage upstarts for this weeks 'New Band Smell'. 'Try Harder' is a well crafted pop punk song much in the ouvre of Alkaline trio and Blink 182.

Ash the Cat - Life Hammer

Ash the Cat is the project of Dungannon native Kit Grier. Grier has been involved in different acts and musical styles in the past and is now voyaging out into the wild unchartered regions of the solo artist. His is a brand of quirky electro that's so positive and feel good it could charge a sweet shop ferris wheel. Lifehammer calls to mind the more frenetic pop nuances of the Flaming Lips as well as former local heroes Cutaways. At present there isn't much more to go on except this killer track, so we very much looking forward to hearing what else Grier has up his sleeve.
