Derry calling...

So this Monday we're heading over the Glenshane to broadcast from BBC Radio Foyle, with the dance show coming live from The Nerve Centre on Friday night. We're celebrating the awesome Celtronic - Northern Ireland's annual festival of electronica - just like we do every year.

We love our trips to Derry, catching up with the lunatics who make up it's vibrant clubbing fraternity. Lunatics like Decky, Curny and Gallo, better known as The Japanese Popstars.

Last year when we were up in Foyle, they called in to give us a few sneaky clues as to who would appear on their second album. We're not sure whether they knew back then that Robert Smyth (The Cure), Green Velvet and Tom Smith (Editors) were set to contribute vocals - if they did they managed to keep schtum.

Anyway, with the album finally released on Monday, we've lived with it a while and can proudly declare it increases in wonder with every listen. If Cashier No. 9's record (released on the same day!) is the sound of a hurting head and heart being healed, The Japstars have made the soundtrack to the incredible adventure the previous evening. A glorious mess of ideas, full of life and volume, utterly relentless. Pretty much like Celtronic, really.
