Rigsy says: ready when you are....
Mash says: born ready. Rigsy says: YES! there he is. why did you show up as a wee lightbulb on my chat?
Mash says: no idea.happy to be a green dot. Rigsy says: thought it was cause you're full of good ideas. whats the best idea you've ever had?
Mash says: Good question. Let's make it topical and say it was, to start a band, but I am full of good ideas.
Rigsy says: if you had been advertising for band members with a wee ad in the NME or whatever and you had to put in MUST BE INTO ....who would you have put? Mash says: Sprigsteen, Ryan Adams, Drive-by Truckers...Band of Horses too, and the National. Rigsy says: all those bands have or have had large beards. explain the importance of beards with relation to your music. Mash says: inexplicably linked. Like Belfast to MTV awards. Rigsy says: ha ha. how do you feel abot the MTV awards coming to belfast right enough? does it mean anything to you? Mash says: You know, it's great for tourism, economy and so on, but I cannot see where it will make any impact on the local music scene. There's talk of a week of gigs leading up to it which would be cool and I hope it inspires some younger musicians, but I can't see much past that. Maybe Two Door will play at the awards, that would be cool. Mash says: yeah thats exactly what i thought. huge potential there would you guys like to be involved? i mean, do you feel any attatchment to MTV? Mash says: I once got a phonecall from MTV when I was 17 to be in Jackass. I had to be over 18 though. As for Napoleon, we'd love to be involved, although it's hard to envisage our place in that though. We've been working on getting a music video together, but it's pain-staking because we want it to be amazing and not just a video of us playing our instruments. Are you presenting? Rigsy says: i am aye. what were you going to do for jackass?! Mash says: Just be a jackass. Honestly. It was really weird, but it all came on the bag of filling out some e-mail with ridiculous/gross stunts. Rigsy says: at these things. they have all sorts of people doing random collaborations. from the current crop of pop acts who are likely to perform - who would napoleon like to appear onstage with? and to do what song? Mash says: You know, I'd happily play with Adele, Rollin' in the Deep or Gaslight Anthem, '59 Sound. Rigsy says: nice. tomorrow night then! (bit rubbish talking about a gig in the speakeasy after chatting about a potential collaboration with adele at the MTV awards) BUT....it'll be great, so lets give the hard sell.... Mash says: It's going to be great...we are playing with Morning Claws and Temper Prophet Temper, who are both quite new bands, so that'll be amazing. We're happy that people who might have missed the EP launch will get to come and it's FREE! Rigsy says: why should people be crying themselves to sleep tomorrow night if they miss this gig? Mash says: Because they'll have to wait a while before they see Napoleon again! Rigsy says: why? Mash says: We just haven't much lined up in Belfast over the next few months. Craig is heading over to Austin for a month in April too, so it'll be quiet. We're working on EP no. 2 as well so we're busy. Plus we don't want to play in Belfast too much, like any band, people only want to see you maybe once or twice a year. Rigsy says: thats a good move TBF Mash says: Can you think of anyone you'd like to see every week? Rigsy says: the lo fidelity allstars. and thats it. our time is up mash. good luck with tomorrow, i look forward to introducing you and adele at the MTV awards in november. ta ta! Mash says: brilliant. thanks, good chat. ****************************************************************************************** Napoleon play Radar at the Queens Students Union tomorrow night (Thursday 3rd March)
