Getting There:

Me, I had my trusty GPS enabled phone, so I just took the Post Code. Unfortunately, I didn't account for the fact that the coverage is somewhat dodgy around the Lisnaskea area... Picture driving round country roads aimlessly for a bit...



Location:

The festival literally takes over a family farm. One field for camping. One field for parking. Two sheds for venues, a tiny cottage attic for venue number three. Then numerous little out houses for exhibitions and movie screenings. All of which empty out onto the one court yard so there's no getting lost here!



Family Feel:

There's a distinct family feel about this festival, that takes shape in two ways...



1) The Minfords - Organisers and generally smiley bunch throughout the festival. The whole family chip in, with lots of help from volunteers, and it gives the festival a unique friendly atmosphere.



2) The festival is definitely child friendly. It's small, and people - although having a good time - are fairly responsible, and you could see the crowd making sure any kids got to see and dance away safely. Plus there's the visiting donkeys!



Music:

Relaxed Atmosphere:

The usual festival madness is mainly absent at Forfey. The schedule isn't as packed, so there's time for afternoon naps or lounging in the scenic festival gardens.



Food:

£2 bacon butties! Good way to start the day. Tea and traybakes later on. It's all a bit twee but ya gotta love it!



Workshops & Art:

Forfey, although mainly about the music, had plenty to be at between the bands. Art exhibitions and films in the yard buildings, and workshops in animation, home brewing, composing etc.



Saturday Night:

While Friday night is an early night for most, the festival ends with a bang on the Saturday. After all the bands finish up, Crooksy's Guilty Pleasuresis the end disco dedicated to truly ciminal records played to a packed out shed and alot of crowd surfing. After that, the camp fire is lit, the guitar comes out and Forfey 2010 gets a proper send off.



Conclusion:

Great festival for those wanting a more laid back and relaxed vibe.
