Year of History
2018 will be a major Year of History on the BBC to mark the centenary of 1918, a seismic year in the history of Britain and the world.
Classical Music
On Friday The BBC announced a raft of major classical music programmes at the Association of British Orchestra’s Conference in Cardiff.
Announcements and blogs
Drama
The media pack for BBC One drama Requiem was published. In addition, BBC One and Magic Light announced that an animated adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s Zog is set for BBC One this coming Christmas.
Elsewhere, Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon is set to join Florence Pugh and Alexander Skarsgård in BBC One's The Little Drummer Girl.
Comedy
A host of guest stars have been confirmed to join the third series ofUpstart Crowon BBC Two.
Entertainment
A media pack for All Together Now a brand new BBC One competition with a twist hosted by comedian Rob Beckett. Elsewhere, contenders have been announced for Sport Relief’s Celebrity Boxing 2018.
Elsewhere, BBC Two have revealed the six acts and songs for Eurovision: You Decide 2018.
Factual
In a real-life detective story for BBC Two, Chris Packham is to return to Sumatra in Indonesia to search for a girl he photographed 20 years ago and discover what’s happened to her rainforest home.
Sport
It's been confirmed that rugby legends Martin Johnson and Sam Warburton will join the BBC’s pundit line-up for the 2018 NatWest Six Nations Championship.
Radio
On Saturday, BBC Radio 3 announced a brand new choral commission to mark the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage in the UK. Elsewhere, BBC Radio Asian Network revealed the line-up for Asian Network Live in Birmingham - the station’s flagship event - which is set to take place on Saturday 10 March at Arena, Birmingham.
Meanwhile, Radio 4 presents a second series of Riot Girls - provocative dramas about women’s stories. In addition, BBC Radio 1 confirmed it is bringing back comedy after more than a decade, with a new roster of original comedy podcasts set to shake up the schedule.
International
This week BBC Arabic celebrates 80 years of broadcasting.
