NHS at 70

This year, as the National Health Service marks its 70th anniversary, the BBC is launching a wide ranging series of programming centred on the NHS, its workforce and the hundreds of thousands of patients it sees every day.

Drama

BBC Writersroom has announced the writers for the fourth BBC TV Drama Writers’ Programme, a unique initiative that gives give 10 promising screenwriters the opportunity to write the first episode for an original series or serial for the BBC.

Comedy

On Thursday Craig Ferguson played Callum Coburn in the series finale of Still Game on BBC One.

Meanwhile, the BBC New Comedy Award 2018 launched this week to find the next stars of comedy.

Documentary

The media pack forBurma With Simon Reeve (a new two-part series coming to BBC Two) was published.

Radio

BBC Radio 1 announced that Friday is now officially part of the weekend with a new schedule of shows including Dev & Alice, Maya Jama, Matt Edmondson & Mollie King, and Scott Mills.

Regional

BBC Wales is to mark NHS at 70 with all-star production To Provide All PeopleMichael Sheen, Tamsin Grieg, Martin Freeman and Meera Syal are amongst the all-star cast of BBC Wales’ latest landmark television drama commission as it celebrates the 70th anniversary of the NHS.
