Last night Britain’s leading forum for television and related media, the Royal Television Society (RTS), held a ceremony for the winners of the 2012/13 Television Journalism Awards. These awards recognise outstanding journalism in UK news and current affairs, both by organisations broadcasting in the UK and by companies which supply UK news broadcasters.
BBC news staff were recipients of several awards out of the 17 categories, including the award for Nations and Regions Current Affairs and News Event which went to BBC Scotland, Innovative News was taken by Don't Panic: The Truth About Population (Wingspan for BBC Two), Camera Operator of the Year was awarded to Darren Conway from BBC News and Stewart White from BBC Look East won Regional Presenter of the Year for the second year running.

Journalist Peter Taylor
BBC East Midlands Today and Jeremy Bowen also received awards and this years Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Peter Taylor OBE. Taylor thanked the BBC "for giving me the time, the freedom and the support to do what I have, and for teaming me with incredible people without whose talents and dedication I would not be receiving this award.”
