Easter Rising
This week extensive programming to mark 100 years since the events of the Easter Rising were announced. Across TV, Radio and Online the events of 1916 that saw the attempted Irish rebellion against British rule in the midst of World War One are commemorated. While BBC Northern Ireland also has a host of specially commissioned content.

Monday brought famous names aplenty with the announcement of new names for Shakespeare Live! From The RSC. In other Shakepeare related news, on Wednesday a Shakespeare’s Life and Legacy interactive map was unveiled in the Library of Birmingham.
BBC Wales and Arts Council of Wales also announced the names of the 12 Welsh artists selected from across Wales to be a part of the Horizons project in its third year.
In Sports news for Wales, as Welsh football fans eagerly anticipate the start of the Euro 2016 tournament, BBC Wales detailed coverage following the national team every step of the way on television, radio and online.
Meanwhile, in Scotland it was revealed that film star Ewan McGregor will narrate a new four-part series for BBC Scotland, Highlands - Scotland’s Wild Heart.
BBC Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw announced on Tuesday that The 1975 and Jake Bugg have joined the line-up for Radio 1’s Big Weekend Exeter 2016. BBC Music also revealed details of its inaugural BBC Music Showcase being held at this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival in Austin, Texas.
On Tuesday it was also announced that Peter Salmon is to leave the BBC in May.

In Salford BBC Radio 5 live’s Battle of the Five-a-Sides 57 hour football match kicked off, in aid of Sport Relief.
On Thursday we published the BBC iPlayer Performance Pack for January. BBC Three also announced the cast for new drama Murdered By My Fatherwhich looks at honour killing.
Next Friday marks 25 years of BBC World News, Chair of Global News Ltd, Fran Unsworth spoke to us about the past, present and future of the BBC's international news service.
It is International Women's Day on March 8th, and Radio 3 is celebrating by playing works by female composers for the whole 24 hours. Producer Olwen Fisher tells us what we can expect on the day.

Episode 1 of BBC Three's online drama Thirteen went up on the site on Sunday, The Telegraph said of the programme 'it’s exactly the kind of drama that BBC Three should be making.'
Mary Beard explored the ancient World in the documentary Pompeii: New Secrets Revealed. And the award winning Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle returned for a fourth series.
