Scott says: “It’s a really confident, dynamic, funny, witty show"

"The first series of Killing Eve has been pretty much in most critics' lists as one of the greatest shows of the 21st Century… it was always a tough act to follow when Phoebe Waller-Bridge stopped writing for the show in the second series, but the show also lost itself a bit too.

"So, I'm happy to say that it has really returned to form in the third season.

"Eve (Sandra Oh) and Villanelle (Jodie Comer) are both so sensational together, but they were in a cat-and-mouse game and one that couldn't last forever, because if it did viewers were just going to get very tired. I think they realised that too, so they tried to change this dynamic in the latter part of the second series, but the result didn't really work. So coming into the third series, I was wondering whether this was just going to be a rehash of all of the things that we have seen before. Luckily, and no spoiler here, I am happy to say that it hasn't fallen into that trap. Killing Eve is still a really confident, dynamic, funny, witty show that has still got some energy, spark and originality left.

"It is a show that I think has learnt from its failures and where it fell short in the second season and I am really encouraged by that. It also has a rather different feel than the previous series too.

"They also go into Fiona Shaw’s character, the MI6 boss Carolyn, in a much deeper way. Her character so far has felt like a relatively minor one. I think she is my actual favourite character of all. Jodie’s amazing and so is Sandra, but for me Fiona is definitely the one.

"Overall, I think yes the show has it flaws, it’s not as good as season one, but this show still has a lot of energy and originality. And that is why it is still a Must Watch for me."

Hayley says: “It looks like it’s not going to re-tread the same steps"

“Over the last season I got a little tired with the whole premise. It felt stale, but this new series opens in a way that makes it look like it’s not going to re-tread the same steps, which is promising. Villanelle is back to murdering people for money. Eve is alive but she’s left MI6 and she’s working in a restaurant. Kenny is now working as a journalist for a website called ‘Bitter Pill’ and everyone is getting on miserably with their separate lives... then something huge happens that drags them all back into this world.

"But they're all coming at it from a different angle now. The targets are different. I don’t know how this will end up, but it doesn’t seem like the same old cat-and-mouse game. This is good because season two was just rehashing the same stuff as season one and it felt needless, whereas this feels like it’s trying to do something else. That said, I did feel like the relationship between Eve and Villanelle and the stuff that keeps them apart can feel forced at times.

"We’ll see. It’s already been commissioned for a fourth series so it has life in it yet, according to the commissioners, but I still feel like the stuff that was shocking and new when ‘Killing Eve’ first arrived is now to be expected in this show, and even with the most shocking of twists I’m still finding it a little hard to care."
