Ashley Young

Tip for the title

Manchester United. They are the team to beat. I know they have lost the experience of Scholes and Van Der Sar but Sir Alex Ferguson bought well with players such as Young, Jones and De Gea (and possibly Sneijder?)

Player to look out for

Japanese teenager Ryo Miyaichi (Arsenal) who has recently been granted a work permit on the grounds of an 'exceptional talent'. On that basis Arsene Wenger must have convinced the panel he will feature in the first team. He is an 18 year old winger and impressed on loan at Feyenoord last season. Some of the Arsenal players have been raving about him, and I look forward to seeing him.

One change to make it a better experience for fans

Make it more affordable. Bradford City in recent years have been very proactive with excellent season ticket deals. An initiative followed by clubs such as Huddersfield Town and this season, Hartlepool United. I hope clubs from higher divisions follow suit.

My earliest football memory

Hazy memories of watching the 1978 World Cup in Argentina as a young boy with a teddy bear called 'Bluey, which didn't bring Scotland much luck.

My current football career

I only play in media games during the odd summer tour. A dodgy right knee, an inability to last the pace and a distinct lack of grace thankfully means my appearances are limited. No defence for a defender.

Guaranteed headline this season

'Trouble on the Tyne'. I covered Newcastle earlier in my career and I know all about the soap opera that exists around a unique football club. Life is never dull at St James' Park and there is not a season that goes by without fresh turmoil on Tyneside. Already we have had a public falling-out involving Joey Barton but I hope they recover to have a good season because their supporters deserve it.
