The work of an MSP
Description
An MSP’s work is split between work in parliament and constituency duties. Parliamentary work includes taking part in debates, raising private member’s bills and dealing with lobbying groups. In their constituency, an MSP has to deal with the difficulties and issues of the people they represent.
Classroom Ideas
Could be used to (re)introduce the duties of MSPs. Comparison could be made between the work of an MSP and the additional duties involved in membership of the Scottish Executive. Students could discuss the pros and cons to constituents of having an MSP who is a member of the Executive.
