A shot is deemed to be successful if:

• it stops in a position that prevents the opposing player from playing a tactically advantageous shot
• it stops the opposition player from drawing a shot towards the jack by blocking the line to the jack

A successful shot will need to:

• be weighted accurately so that it reaches the location that provides an ideal barrier
