Practise taking part in an interview for a job. Read the instructions and prepare what you will say.

Scenario

You are asking for a summer holiday job in a summer camp in France. The teacher will play the role of the employer and will speak first. You must address the employer as vous.

You will talk to the teacher using the five prompts below. Where you see a question mark (?) you must ask a question. Where you see an exclamation mark (!) you must respond to something you have not prepared.

Employer: Bonjour, pourquoi voulez-vous travailler ici ?

Candidate: Je voudrais travailler ici parce que je veux avoir de l’expérience dans le monde du travail et j’aime travailler avec les enfants.

Employer: Bon. A partir de quand êtes-vous disponible ?

Candidate: Je suis disponible à partir du vingt juillet, jusqu’au trente août.

Employer: Qu’est-ce que vous avez fait déjà comme travail ?

Candidate: J’ai travaillé comme babysitter l’année dernière.

Employer: D’accord.

Candidate: Faut-il porter un uniforme ?

Employer: Non.

Candidate: Je vais être payé combien de l’heure ?

Employer: Le salaire, c’est 8€ de l’heure.

Translation:

Employer: Hello, why would you like to work here?

Candidate: I would like to work here because I want to have experience in the world of work and I like working with children.

Employer: Good. From what date are you available?

Candidate: I’m available from the 20^th July until 30^th August.

Employer: What kind of work have you already done?

Candidate: I worked as a babysitter last year.

Employer: OK.

Candidate: Do I have to wear a uniform?

Employer: No.

Candidate: How much will I get paid per hour?

Employer: The salary is €8 per hour.
