Can you understand people talking about their holidays and tourism in French? Develop the skills to be able to understand others and practise writing about your holidays.
When we go on holidays, we very often pay a visit to the tourist office to get information on the main attractions and things to see and do. Below is a role-play to help you practise what to say in these situations.
Question
You are on holiday and stop at the tourist office. Respond to the questions the tourist office employee asks and address them as vous.
Say that you want to visit the Dune of Pilat and ask for transport options.
Ask for information on other tourist attractions.
Say that yesterday you visited the Cap Ferret lighthouse and you did the bay tour by bike.
Ask if you can purchase tickets for a visit to l'Île aux Oiseaux.
Say that you want four tickets.

- Bonjour, je peux vous aider?
- Bonjour, je souhaite visiter la dune du Pilat, y-a-t-il un bus du Cap Ferret ou puis-je prendre un ferry?
- Vous avez raison, il y a un ferry - cela ne prend que 30 minutes. Puis vous prenez un bus d'Arcachon à la dune, ce trajet ne prend que 10 minutes.
- Est-ce que vous pouvez me conseiller d'autres attractions touristiques?
- Qu'avez-vous déjà fait?
- Hier j'ai visité le phare du Cap Ferret et j'ai fait le tour de la baie en vélo.
- Je vous recommande de faire du surf et certainement de faire le tour de l'Île aux Oiseaux.
- D’accord, ça a l'air génial. Puis-je acheter des billets pour la visite ici?
- Oui, vous pouvez - combien en voulez-vous?
- Quatre, s'il vous plaît.
- Parfait, ce sera 28 euros, s'il vous plaît.
