Je suis allée en Égypte le mois dernier et le voyage s’est très bien passé. Le vol a décollé à l’heure et j’ai pu regarder un film avant d’atterrir. Le repas dans l’avion n’était pas aussi mauvais que l’année dernière. Nous sommes arrivés à l’hôtel en moins de cinq heures. Mon père a dit que l’année prochaine, il voudrait partir en vacances en voiture mais ma mère a dit : « Absolument pas ! ».

I went to Egypt last month and the journey was perfect. The flight took off on time and I could watch a film before landing. The meal was not as bad as last year, and we were at the hotel in under five hours. My dad said next year he’d like to go on holiday by car, but my mum said absolutely not.

Quand je suis allé voir ma grand-mère à Lyon l’année dernière, le voyage a été un vrai cauchemar à cause des grèves. Par contre, cette année, tout s’est déroulé sans problème. Je suis arrivé à la gare vingt minutes avant le départ du train. Ce n’était pas un problème. Je suis allé m’asseoir au bar, j’ai pris un café et j’ai lu le journal. Une fois dans le train, j’étais pratiquement seul dans le compartiment et j’ai pu dormir pendant presque tout le voyage.

When I visited my grandmother in Lyon last year, the trip was a real nightmare because of the strikes. Yet this year everything went smoothly. I arrived at the station twenty minutes before the departure of the train. It wasn’t a problem. I sat in the bar, I bought a coffee and I read a newspaper. Once on the train I was practically alone in my carriage and I could sleep for almost the entire trip.

J’ai pensé que ce serait une bonne idée de faire quelque chose pour protéger l’environnement, alors j’ai décidé de ne pas utiliser ma voiture pendant une semaine et de me déplacer à vélo. Quelle erreur ! Lundi matin, je me suis mis en route et après à peine dix minutes, j’avais un pneu crevé ! J’ai essayé de le réparer mais c’était impossible. Je suis donc allé au travail à pied, et bien sûr, je suis arrivé en retard ! Mon chef était furieux.

I thought it would be a good idea to do something to protect the environment, so I decided not to use my car for a week but to use my bike. What a mistake! On the Monday morning, I set off and after ten minutes, I had a flat tyre. I tried to repair it, but it was impossible. I ended up walking to work, and of course, I arrived late. My boss was furious.

Il y a deux ans, je suis allée en Corse avec ma famille pendant les grandes vacances. Nous avons voyagé de Marseille à Ajaccio en bateau et bien que la mer Méditerranée soit normalement calme, ce jour-là, il y avait de l’orage et un vent très fort. J’ai eu un mal de mer terrible. La traversée a duré plus de douze heures et quand nous sommes arrivés en Corse, nous étions complètement épuisés. L’année prochaine, on va prendre l’avion.

Two years ago, I went to Corsica with my family for the summer holidays. We travelled from Marseille to Ajaccio buy boat and even though the Mediterranean Sea is usually calm, on that day there was a storm and a very strong wind. I had terrible seasickness. The crossing took more than twelve hours and when we arrived in Corsica, we were completely exhausted. Next year, we’re going to go by plane.
