Nine forms of transport with the French text

Quand je vais aux États-Unis, je prends l’avion. – When I go to the United States I go by plane.

Je vais au collège en voiture. – I go to school by car.

Pour aller en ville, mes amis et moi prenons le bus. – To go to town, my friends and I take the bus.

L’année dernière, j’ai fait un voyage scolaire en Espagne. Nous avons voyagé en car. – Last year I went on a school trip to Spain. We travelled by coach.

Je vais aller en Angleterre cet été et je vais prendre le bateau. – I am going to go to England this summer, and I am going to take the boat.

Mon frère est venu nous voir à moto. – My brother came to visit us by motorbike.

J’adore voyager en train. – I love travelling by train.

Je vais chez mes amis à vélo. – I go to my friends’ houses on my bike.

Quand il fait beau, je me déplace à pied. – When the weather is nice I get around on foot.

At the airport

Le départ est à dix heures. – The departure is at ten o’clock.

Tu as tes bagages ? – Do you have your luggage?

J’adore prendre l’avion parce que c’est rapide. – I love to fly because it is quick.

Le vol va décoller à l’heure. – The flight is going to take off on time. (H)

Ov va atterrir avec trente minutes de retard. – We are going to land thirty minutes late. (H)

By car

Il faut s’arrêter pour acheter de l’essence. – We have to stop to buy petrol.

Je me suis garé à côté de l’église. – I parked next to the church.

C’est où, le bureau de location de voitures ? – Where is the car rental office?

Vous voulez louer une voiture ? – Do you want to hire a car?

J’ai besoin de mon permis de conduire. – I need my driving licence.

At the railway station

Je voudrais un aller-simple pour Versailles. – I would like a single ticket for Versailles.

Un aller-retour pour Bordeaux, s’il vous plaît. – A return (ticket) for Bordeaux, please.

C ‘est le quai/ la voie numéro 8. – It’s platform number 8.

Où se trouve le guichet ? – Where is the ticket office?

Ça fait vingt euros. – That will be twenty euros.

Il faut payer un supplément. – There is a supplement to pay.
